In The Witch (The VVitch), Thomasin and Caleb are in the forest when a hare frightens their horse and their dog Fowler runs off. Young Caleb eventually finds Fowler's dead body. Nearby in a thicket emerges a beautiful young woman dressed in a bright red cloak... but barefoot with disheveled clothes underneath. She seduces Caleb and gives him a kiss, then pulls him into her, with a haggard arm that reveals her true nature as an old witch.
