The White Queen from Alice in Wonderland

Anne Hathaway brings the ethereal White Queen to life in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland movies. She is the polar opposite of her sister, the wicked Red Queen, preferring kindness over decapitation of those who annoy her. She favors the color white and a Victorianesque wardrobe, consistent with the era of Lewis Carroll and Alice’s home world.

Jane Banner from Wind River

Jane Banner (played by Elizabeth Olsen) is an FBI agent sent to investigate the death of Natalie Hanson (played by Kelsey Chow). Natalie Hanson’s death is the main conflict of the movie Wind River and for good reason. Director Taylor Sheridan has stated that he wrote Wind River expressly to highlight the staggering number of First Nations and Native women that are killed or go missing,

The movie ends with statistics on the number of Native women that go missing or are murdered each year: in America Native women are twice as likely as any other group of women to suffer violence, particularly sexual assault and homicide. Of those crimes, 67% of the attackers are non-Native. It has been described as a national crisis in Canada and an epidemic in America. For more information please visit Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women USA.

Jane Banner is unaware of these issues when she first arrives in Wind River, Wyoming. She quickly realizes the depth of the issue, however. Though she nearly loses her life in the process and comes away with raw appreciation for the situation she walked into.

When Banner first arrives in Wind River she is dressed in the usual clothes one would expect of an FBI Agent. Black shoes, a black pantsuit, and a white button down shirt. She wears her long hair down and has minimal makeup. When Cory Lambert (played by Jeremy Renner) takes her out to see the victim, Banner is loaned a blue snow suit that had belonged to Hanson. Finally, when she confronts Hanson’s murderers, she is wearing a long black down coat, black pants, a black belt, a bullet proof vest, black snow boots, and a black beanie. She also has her pistol in a hip holster and has her hair tied up under her hat.

The movie Wind River awakened many people to the dangers faced by Native women. Your cosplay may inspire some questions as well, which is a good thing. It’s a topic that needs to be discussed, and addressed, for all of the real-world Natalie Hansons and their loved ones.

Rebecca Black (Friday 2021 Remix)

Remember that song “Friday?” Its catchy yet obnoxious chorus about “looking forward to the weekend” was stuck in everyone’s head. From parodies to voice dubs, it became one of the most viral memes in existence. Ten years later, Rebecca Black returns with an fast paced, electro-pop remix featuring Dorian Electra, Big Freedia, and 30H!3. Vision's Halloween Costume from WandaVision

Vision’s Halloween Costume from WandaVision

Vision (played by Paul Bettany) died in the Battle of Wakanda. But that doesn’t stop him from being a loving father and husband to Wanda in WandaVision. Most of the time, that is. When he starts to notice the strange truth of his world he seeks answers. And it takes him well beyond his limits, even as an Avenger.

Before Vision finds true terror on Halloween, he dresses up with his family. His costume is a callback to Vision’s original look in the comics though with a few tweaks to make it sitcom-Halloween friendly.

Copying the luck is much easier than copying his look as an Avenger. A green hooded bodysuit does most of the work and red face paint finishes it. Cosmetic glue adds the green “mind stone” on the brow and yellow felt creates the yellow diamond on the chest of the bodysuit. After that all you need is a yellow cloak and yellow running  shorts, yellow socks and white shoes!

Inspector Spacetime and Constable Reggie

Inspector Spacetime and Constable Reggie appear in the fictional British sci-fi series, Inspector Spacetime. Very similar to Doctor Who, the Inspector and his companion, Reggie, travel throughout time and space in a telephone box. The show exists as a show within a show in the NBC sitcom Community, where Troy and Abed cosplay these characters to the Halloween party and at an Inspector Spacetime convention. No Inspector is complete without their constable, so grab your best friend for this duo cosplay!

Grace van Pelt from The Mentalist

Grace Van Pelt from The Mentalist

At first glance, Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) is quiet and demure, but she proves herself to be an a proficient computer hacking expert for Teresa Lisbon‘s team at the California Bureau of Investigation. Consistent with her conservative upbringing, Van Pelt is a modest dresser with preppy influences. When the actress, Amanda Righetti, became pregnant during The Mentalist’s fifth season, Van Pelt’s onscreen wardrobe began including loose-fitting blazers to hide her figure (though the new mother’s natural beauty could never be fully unconcealed), and she was always filmed while seated behind large computer monitors.
