Women
Famine from Chainsaw Man
Famine Devil or “Fami” is a character in the Chainsaw Man manga. She embodies the fear of famine and starvation. She is one of the four Horsemen, making her the sister of Makima (now Nayuta) and Yoru. As of now, Fami poses as a student and member of the Devil Hunters Club alongside Asa. This makes her strangely familiar with Yoshida. Eerily calm and composed, Fami has a knack for reading others. Her end goal is to take down the Death Devil. Initially, she sought to use Asa and Denji as pawns, but as of late, the two sisters seem to be working together. She utilizes lethal methods, such as summoning the Guillotine Devil.
Julie from Lady Bird
Julie is a character from the A24 film Lady Bird, directed by Greta Gerwig and is played by Beanie Feldstein. Lady Bird follows a strong-willed high school senior that goes by Lady Bird, as she navigates troubles with her family, the transition through graduation, and what she wants in life. Her best friend in the film is Julie who is loyal to Lady Bird despite their arguments.
Julie has two notable looks in the film that can be recreated and even worn as a fun duo costume with your best friend. The first is her school uniform just like Lady Bird’s, which is a navy sweater vest, a short sleeve light blue polo shirt, a gray pleated skirt, and Julie pins small colorful clips in her hair. Another is from their prom night, where she wears a formal light purple dress.
Marian from Drive-Away Dolls
Marian is one of the main characters from the new comedy film, Drive-Away Dolls, and is played by Margaret Qualley. Drive-Away Dolls follows two friends Jamie and Marian as they take an unexpected road trip to Florida in search of a new start, but as they do so, they run into a group of criminals.
To dress like Marian, wear a blue blazer and shirt with a bow at the neckline, or a blue denim button-down shirt over a white tee and blue jeans. You can also match with a friend dressed as Jamie.
Barb Howard from Fallout
A new TV series has been going viral online for its spot-on live action adaptation of the video game franchise Fallout that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. This series depicts the aftermath of The Great War of 2077, where survivors take refuge in fallout shelters or Vaults, which are actually all created as different experiments on the people who live in them. It follows a woman named Lucy who leaves Vault 33 to find her father in the dangerous wasteland of what is left of Los Angeles. She runs into a Ghoul bounty hunter, originally named Cooper Howard. In the series we also get to meet Cooper’s wife named Barb Howard, and learn more about their story as the series progresses.

Tiff Crust from My Life as a Teenage Robot
In My Life as a Teenage Robot, Tiffany “Tiff” Crust (voiced by Cree Summer) is the grungier half of the Crust Cousins. Alongside Brit Crust, she’s a highly fashionable and popular girl who bullies the students at Tremorton High School. Brit often clashes brashly with Jenny Wakeman and her friends.
Neopolitan (School Disguise) from RWBY
Neo is a major antagonist in the online series RWBY, created by Rooster Teeth. While she doesn’t speak, she does technically have some small sounds that she makes, which are provided by Casey Lee Williams in English, and by Konomi Fujimura in Japanese.
She has the ability to change her appearance into whatever she wishes, due to her Semblance ‘Overactive Imagination’, and uses this for many infiltration purposes. During volume 3, she joins in with the rest of Cinder’s team to sneak into Beacon and take part in the Vytal Festival Tournament, though we only see her in this disguise in one very brief scene.
Neo’s normally tri-colored hair is changed to black for this disguise, and worn up in two long pigtails, tied with white bows. Her eyes are green upon first seeing her, but right at the moment of attack, she lets her heterochromia show, and you can see her pink and brown eyes again. Her shirt is a black, sleeveless crop stop with a high collar, tied with a black ribbon, and topped with white ruffle accents. The bottom half appears to be a black and white paneled skirt (the angle makes it very difficult to tell if they’re shorts or a skirt), with a white belt at the top and white ribbon detailing along the side. The outfit is finished off with elbow-length black gloves, white and black leg warmers, and black boots with her symbol on the bottom.
Xion (Casual Outfit) from Kingdom Hearts III
Xion (voiced in Japanese by Risa Uchida and in English by both Alyson Stoner and Hayden Panettiere) is one of the main important characters in the Kingdom Hearts game franchise, specifically 358/2 Days. This article will be focusing on her outfit specifically in KH3, please go here to find her Organization cloak version.
For this outfit, her hair and eyes are the same as shown in her 358/2 Days appearance. During the end of KH3, she changes into a black dress similar in form to Kairi’s KH3 outfit, with a grey pleated skirt. She’s also exchanged her Organization XIII boots for black boots with a light topper ring, and metal studded bands around the top of the foot.
Delia Deetz from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
The new trailer for the second Beetlejuice film released recently and is called Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, planned to release this fall of 2024. The film takes place in the future after the previous one we all know from 1988. Most of the cast is the same as the original, playing their original characters we all know and love.
One of the characters returning is Delia Deetz, played again by Catherine O’Hara. To dress like Delia as we can see her in the trailer, wear a black cape coat over a black asymmetrical top or vest, black skirt, black tights, and stylish black and white sneakers. She also wears a black fur hat with stylish red gloves that match her hair and lipstick. To add even more detail, carry a white lace handkerchief and outline with a black sharpie or fabric marker.
Solene from The Idea of You
Solene is the main character in the new rom-com The Idea of You, and is played by Anne Hathaway. The Idea of You follows Solene, a 40 year old single mother who unexpectedly develops a romance with a 24 year old singer from a boy band.
To dress like Solene wear chic but simple pieces like this timeless tan trench coat with a simple white button down and a light khaki skirt. Another look features a black criss-cross front shirt and both of her looks are paired with fashionable black oversized sunglasses.
Janey Howard from Fallout
A new TV series has been going viral online for its spot-on live action adaptation of the video game franchise Fallout that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world. This series depicts the aftermath of The Great War of 2077, where survivors take refuge in fallout shelters or Vaults, which are actually all created as different experiments on the people who live in them. It follows a woman named Lucy who leaves Vault 33 to find her father in the dangerous wasteland of what is left of Los Angeles. She runs into a Ghoul bounty hunter, originally named Cooper Howard. He was a film actor before the war. In this guide I’ll be covering his daughter, Janey Howard’s cowboy costume in Episode 1, where she matches her dad.
Although this costume looks complicated to make, this guide is doable for an artist of any level. Starting with the iconic blue and gold western shirt, use a kids size blue western dress shirt, like the boys shirt linked below (which works for boys and girls) as the base to build off of. For the gold/ cream section on the top portion of the shirt and the sleeve cuffs, cut either a jacquard patterned or brushed twill fabric to the shape of the top of the shirt and either glue it down (the edges will be covered by the fringe trim but iron and fold edges for a cleaner look) or sew the fabric on top. If you’re skilled in sewing and want to take it even further, seam rip the top section from the collar and sleeves and use the removed blue piece as a pattern for the gold fabric, adding seam allowance to sew back in place. You can also add cream piping/ bias tape along the collar and front button panels.
Next, along the edge of the gold fabric you added, either sew or glue on gold fringe trim, following the edge across the front, over the shoulder, and to the back.
Now for the details on the gold fabric: if you choose a printed jacquard fabric, you can keep as is. It gives the same effect of having variety to the surface. However if you have more time to add detail, choose the solid brushed twill fabric and paint and/or embroider a similar pattern of line drawings of scorpions similar to the photos. Doing a combination of both flat painted and 3-D embroidered icons gives it the same variety as the one from the series. You can also paint or embroider (or both) the icons on the collar.
For the rest of the costume, wear brown pants (I’ve linked both girls and boys sizes). Bootcut works better to cover cowboy boots like the ones linked below. On top of those, wear a brown cowboy holster belt. More accessories to complete the look include a cream cowboy hat, a sheriff’s badge and a gold neck scarf. To be even more screen-accurate for the scarf, take a solid cream or white bandana, and tie-dye it yellow.
To go as a parent-kid duo just like in the first episode, follow my guide for Janey’s dad: Cooper Howard. Even further, I’ve also created one for Janey’s mother, and Cooper’s wife Barb Howard.
