Women

Winter Steele

Since platinum blonde hair and the 1980s are trending at the moment, I thought I’d take a classic turn. Winter Steele is a puppet character from MTV’s animated series Liquid Television. Her style is very punk, symbolizing Nancy Spungen or from this generation, a lookalike of Lorraine Broughton from Atomic Blonde.

It’s a fairly easy look to pull off. Many females from the ’80s and ’90s would be most familiar with such. You’ll need platinum blonde/white long hair, a black choker with silver medallion, a black biker jacket (black vintage military cap is optional), a dog tag necklace, black pair of sunglasses, leather black gloves, black leather boots with pearls wrapped around the ankles, topped off with a simple black bralette with pants.

Eliza Thornberry

In The Wild Thornberrys, Eliza Thornberry is a geeky tomboy who’s gained the ability to speak to animals, although this is unknown to all but her older sister Debbie. Note that since the red turtleneck will be worn underneath, you can cut this into a crop-top or cut the sleeves off a regular turtleneck, and use the excess fabric for red pockets on the dress!

Nikki Wong from 6teen

Nikki Wong

Nikki Wong is a early 2000’s portrayal of an alternative chick, giving off goth vibes while in ska punk fashion. Her feminine role in the animated show 6teen touched non-conforming girls and feminists alike. To achieve her look, you’ll need a number of items that scream California or the beach. The outfit she wears throughout the whole series are: a pair of grey cargos (brown belt at the waist), a basic white tank top, a black choker with a triangular gemstone attached, some silver piercings, a purple bob, and some makeup to match.

Missy from Big Mouth

Missy from Big Mouth

In Big Mouth, Missy (voiced by Jenny Slate) is a girl who was once girlfriend to Andrew Glouberman.

Singing Telegram Girl

In Clue, the Singing Telegram Girl (Jane Wiedlin) is a character who visits Mr. Boddy’s party to deliver a message, before being killed by one of the guests. She is later revealed to be a former patient and lover of Professor Plum’s.

Megara

Megara/Meg (Susan Egan) is the feisty, street-smart, sarcastic love interest in Disney’s “Hercules.” In exchange for her soul, Hades (James Woods) saves the life of the man she loves. But when he leaves her, her trust in love and men is shattered. Up until she hesitantly falls for Hercules (Tate Donovan), she’s on a mission Hades to take him down.

Kara “Starbuck” Thrace

In Battlestar Galactica, Kara Thrace, call-sign “Starbuck” (Katee Sackhoff), is the best Viper pilot in the flee, insubordinate, a drunk and a gambler. One of the few thousand humans left after the human-created machine race of Cylons attacked Earth, she goes through a series of personal, professional and spiritual trials as they struggle to find a new home planet. Willing to try anything and often found at the bar, she’s a tough chick with a wounded heart. Like the rest of the soldiers, she wears the signature double tanks.

Max from Stranger Things

In Stranger Things, Maxine Mayfield (Sadie Sink), aka Mad Max, is a new girl in Hawkins, Indiana. She makes a name for herself by beating Dustin Henderson’s long-standing high score in Dig Dug at the local arcade. She’s a little rough around the edges and likes to skateboard.

Kubira

Kubira

In Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer, Kubira is a spiritual canine who transforms into a woman to blend into human society. She is summoned by her master Kyosuke, who demands full obedience and loyalty to him.

Jeryline

Jeryline

Jeryline is one of the many unfortunate souls in the film Tales From The Crypt: Demon Knight. I had just watched this movie days ago and love her character due to how relatable and inspiring she is. This film deserves more attention if it hasn’t gotten any already!

Jeryline’s outfit is straight out of the ’90s with it’s matching fabric and grungy attitude sported as an alternative streetwear image. The pieces needed to pull off her look are: a blue denim shirt (with the sleeves cut off), a white cropped shirt, a pair of ratty denim blue jeans, a bleached casual buzzcut, abandana, piercings for both ears, some black working gloves, and a pair of chukka ankle boots.
