Ryuji Ayukawa

Ryuji Ayukawa is a character in the manga Blue Period. Illustrated by Tsbuasa Yamaguchi, the series was serialized in Kodansha’s seinen manga magazine and has been collected in ten volumes. Also known as Yukachan, they are Yatora’s classmate and member of the art club. They invite Yatora to join the art club, which motivates his passion for painting. Ryuji specializes in Japanese art. She attended the same school as Yatora. While seemingly positive, Maki feels inferior compared to her older sister. Her lack of self confidence prevents her from seeing how her artistic innovations inspire others. She is very friendly and caring as well, as displayed through sharing her lunch with students.

Yatora is a second year high school student, who despite his delinquent lifestyle, achieves excellent grades. He feels his life is dull and predictable, which leaves him empty and frustrated. One day, he comes across his senpai, Mori, painting in the school’s art club. Fascinated and inspired, he discovers a passion for painting. His goal is to eventually enroll in Tokyo University of the Arts.
