Kneemoi from Where In The World is Carmen Sandiego
Kneemoi may look sweet but don’t take your eyes off her. She’s a shapeshifting grifter who has no issue stealing whatever she wants. Once she even stole all knowledge of Tai Chi! As one of Carmen Sandiego’s henchwomen, she is comfortable in a life of crime, something you probably shouldn’t bring to your Kneemoi cosplay.
Along with setting aside her criminal tendencies, Kneemoi cosplayers have a unique challenge. Kneemoi, in her normal state, is a pink floating ball with arms and, sometimes, a hose-like nose. A pink bodysuit is a good start, as are false lashes and pink face paint. You can add a pink skirt and pink flats if you would like a few more layers. And if you want to copy the nose she has in some variations, you can use skin-safe glue to attach a plastic hose over your nose.
Uncle Chester from The Big Comfy Couch
Uncle Chester (Edward Knuckles) is a character in The Big Comfy Couch, a Canadian children’s show from the 90s. He is Loonette’s traveling uncle who appears in the final two seasons. His name is believed to be a parody of Uncle Fester from The Addams Family. His outfit is a mishmash of different fabrics and colors — including a bright yellow kilt!
Molly from the Big Comfy Couch
Molly is a character in The Big Comfy Couch, a Canadian children’s show from the 90s. She is the living clown ragdoll who acts as a sidekick Loonette. They met when Loonette found her in a barrel and adopted her. To Loonette’s disbelief, Molly believes dust bunnies are real. Although she is mostly silent, only nodding or shaking her head, she does communicate through animated speech bubbles.
Gumshoe Contestants
Based on the computer game of the same name, Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?, is a children’s game show that aired in the early 90s. The contestants, referred to as “gumshoes” by the Chief, must help ACME find Carmen by answering questions about geography.
Ji-Young from Sesame Street
The newest resident of Sesame Street is the 7-year old girl named Ji-Young. As a Korean-American, Ji-Young makes history as the first muppet of Asian descent on the long-running PBS children’s show. She makes her debut November 25 on “See Us Coming Together: A Sesame Street Special”.
Anthony from The Wiggles
Anthony is the blue Wiggle and a founding member of The Wiggles. Out of all The Wiggles, he’s the only one who’s stayed for all 30 years they’ve been around. As such, the new generation wiggles sometimes refer to Anthony as a ‘wise senior Wiggle’ and he often calls them ‘young’ in return. He still occasionally reunites and performs with Greg Wiggle, Murray Wiggle and Jeff Wiggle in the reunion concerts
Emma Wiggle
Emma Wiggle is the persona of Emma Watkins, an Austrailian musician, dancer, and entertainer. She is part of the children’s music group, the Wiggles. Emma replaced Greg in 2013 as the yellow Wiggle. She is the first female member of the core group. Her talents include singing, ballet, and speaking fluent French. To make the bow, secure the black clip under the knot of the yellow bow, and use hair to hide the headband.
Caillou
Four-year-old Caillou (voiced by Annie Bovaird) is the bald-headed protagonist of the Canadian PBS Kids’ show Caillou. Caillou is often considered the bane of parents of young children because his antics on the show are considered spoiled and bratty by many adults. Caillou’s outfit consists of bright primary colors. If you choose to include a hat like Caillou’s, you can purchase a novelty baseball cap with multicolored panels like the one shown here and remove the propeller, as finding a standard cap with multicolor panels can be difficult.
Larryboy from VeggieTales
LarryBoy is the superhero alter ego of Larry the Cucumber (voiced by Mike Nawrocki). He uses every power in his control to be the best superhero he can be. Which, generally speaking, are his plunger ears. Those and his LarryMobile which is as close to all-terrain as it can get!
Cosplaying as LarryBoy means taking a few liberties with the look. Larry is, after all, a cucumber. He has no arms or legs. You, as a human, are going to have to improvise.
To that end, use a white long sleeve lace-up shirt as his top and paint on a yellow vest and ties using fabric paint, reminiscent of Silver Age hero costumes. A pair of purple shorts worn over yellow running pants will give you the purple bottoms while still sticking to that Silver Age style. A back belt serves as a utility belt while yellow foam and silver paint can recreate his belt buckle. You can either hot glue this to your belt buckle or glue a magnet to the back of the foam, depending on how permanent you want the modification to be.
Larry’s hat is where it gets a little tricky. Plungers can be kind of heavy. But if you can find two lightweight ones, you can cut the posts down and glue them to either side of a purple mask. Purple foam and more hot glue gives you the crest of his mask while green face paint gives you the signature cucumber look. Then all you need is a pair of black hero boots to finish off your costume.
Granny Garbanzo from The Big Comfy Couch
Granny Garbanzo (Grindl Kuchirka) is a recurring character on The Big Comfy Couch, a Canadian children’s show from the 90s. She is an elderly clown who lives in a wagon next to a clothes line with her cat, Snicklefritz. She has a heavy European accent, and refers to Loonette with a diminutive “-ka” suffix. Granny often makes references to the old days and the old country. While she provides wisdom to Loonette, she possesses quite a bit of youthful energy. In the later seasons, she has her own cooking show.
