Mr. Boddy from Clue

Mr. John Boddy (played by Lee Ving) is – maybe? – the mastermind behind the blackmail that drives the plot of Clue. Then again he might be a butler who took the penalty his boss should have suffered. Who really knows?!

Mr. Boddy’s fashion sense, at least, is not a mystery. A combination pomade and temporary black dye will let you mimic his hair style. A black suit and faux Oxfords make up the majority of his look while a dark olive dress shirt is the final piece. Of course if you’re Mr. Boddy then you need gifts for all your party guests. So don’t forget your black boxes and decorative ribbon.

Wadsworth from Clue

Most people know Clue as a board game. But in 1985 it became a major motion picture with an ensemble cast led by Tim Curry. And while Tim Curry is best known as Long John Silver and Dr. Frank-N-Furter, he is just as compelling as the much more prim – though possibly no less dangerous – butler known as Wadsworth. Or perhaps he’s Mr. Boddy dressed as his butler Wadsworth. You’ll have to follow the clues and decide for yourself after watching the hilarious movie. And all three of its possible endings.

While the movie is a little topsy-turvy, Wadsworth’s costume certainly is not. He wears a traditional butler’s costume though he skips the gloves. A white dress shirt, black skinny tie, coat with tails, black vest, black pants, and black shoes makes up his entire outfit. The only other thing you need is a handy revolver. Just make sure you count the shots. Was it 1+1+2+1 or 1+2+2+1?

Colonel Mustard

In Clue, Colonel Mustard (Martin Mull) is a guest of Mr. Boddy’s who’s being blackmailed for war profiteering. It’s revealed that he made his money from selling stolen radios on the black market, as well as having an affair with one of Miss Scarlet’s escorts. In one of the endings, he killed a stranded motorist in the lounge with a wrench.

Miss Scarlet

Miss Scarlet (Lesley Ann Warren) is a character from the board game, Clue. In the film adaptation, she is a socialite who runs an illegal escort service, for which she is being blackmailed by Mr. Boddy. In one of the ends, she killed the cop in the library with a lead pipe.

Mrs. White

In Clue, Mrs. White (Madeline Kahn) is a “black widow” who had her husbands disappear or die mysteriously. She is a guest of Mr. Boddy’s, and is also being blackmailed by him. The maid had an affair with one of her husbands, so in one of the endings, she killed the maid in the billiard room with a rope.

Mr. Green

In Clue, Mr. Green (Michael McKean) is a State Department employee and guest of Mr. Boddy. He is blackmailed for being gay, a secret which would cost him his job. In one of the endings, he is suspected of killing the singing telegram girl in the hall with the revolver. He ultimately reveals himself as an undercover FBI agent, who actually killed Mr. Boddy in the hall with the revolver.

Professor Plum

In Clue, Professor Plum (Christopher Lloyd) is a former psychiatry professor with the World Health Organization who had his license revoked after having an affair with a female patient. He is a guest of Mr. Boddy’s and is being blackmailed for his indiscretions. In one of the endings, he killed Mr. Boddy in the hall with the candlestick.

Yvette

Yvette (Colleen Camp) is Mr. Boddy’s maid in the film, Clue. She is also Mr. Boddy’s accomplice, a former escort for Miss Scarlet, where she had Colonel Mustard as a client, and one of Miss Scarlet, Mrs. Peacock, or Mrs. White, depending on the ending.

Singing Telegram Girl

In Clue, the Singing Telegram Girl (Jane Wiedlin) is a character who visits Mr. Boddy’s party to deliver a message, before being killed by one of the guests. She is later revealed to be a former patient and lover of Professor Plum’s.

Mrs. Peacock

In the film, Clue, Mrs. Peacock (Eileen Brennan) is the high society wife of a Senator. She is a guest of Mr. Boddy’s party, and is being blackmailed for accepting bribes to deliver her husband’s vote. To stay true to the board game, Mrs. Peacock killed the cook in the kitchen with the knife.
