Tom Nook from Animal Crossing

Tom Nook is a popular and well-known character from the Nintendo game Animal Crossing. Tom Nook is one of the first characters you meet in the game and he is the manager of the town shop and Nook Homes. His design is based off of an animal called a Tanuki, or a Japanese Raccoon Dog.

To dress like Tom Nook, wear a headband with ears, and either an Animal Crossing Hawaiian shirt with khaki shorts, or his dressier look with a green argyle sweater vest, red tie, white button down, and gray pants.

Blathers from Animal Crossing

Blathers is a character from the Nintendo game Animal Crossing. He is an owl that resides at the local museum in the game and accepts different items to add to it. He is a smart and friendly character that sleeps during the day just like any owl would.

To dress like Blathers, wear a brown argyle sweater vest, brown pants, striped red and yellow socks, a green bow tie and a brown dress shirt. If you want to go even further, make wings out of fabric and a yellow beak.

Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing

Mr. Resetti from Animal Crossing

Most Animal Crossing players have come across the old temptation. The temptation to reset their island. It’s a lot of progress to make up and a lot of work to put in. But it might be worth it. If it weren’t for one little hiccup: Mr. Resetti. You can go ahead and reset your island if you want. As soon as he’s done lecturing you!

Dealing with Mr. Resetti might be hard but his cosplay isn’t! You need a mining hat and costume pickaxe, naturally. And black pace paint for the whiskers is a must.

Frita from Animal Crossing

Frita from Animal Crossing

Frita is one of several sisterly villagers that might take up residence on your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. With a love for good food and K.K.’s Rockabilly music, she’s lively and fun. Don’t push it, though! She’s tough under all that wool!

One option with a character like Frita is to go all-in to get the same sheep-like look. In this case, however, we’re going for a version that blends human features with Frita’s most memorable traits. This includes her horns, her hotdog-style shirt, and a yellow ruffle skirt to imitate the wool ruff under her shirt.

You’ll have to do a little DIY and paint the hot dog design onto a shirt using soft touch fabric paint. And also have to paint the red and yellow bands on a set of horns, then cover the black base with green ribbon to mimic the green in Frita’s fur.

Aside from that, however, all you’ll need to complete the look is a pair of brown leggings, yellow ballet flats, yellow nail polish, and a yellow ruffled scarf to finish off the costume!

Audie from Animal Crossing New Horizons

Audie from Animal Crossing

Audie is a bright, bubbly wolf villager. With bright orange fur and cream colored hands and feet she’s often mistaken for a fox but don’t let her fool you! She’s right at home with the other wolf villagers. And the peppy. And the sporty.

Her bright personality comes through in her clothing. A pineapple-print dress, orange tights, and cream colored shoes mimic most of her look while sunglasses, fox ears, and an orange wig give you the same vibrant look Audi has. Just don’t forget your Surprised reaction when talking with friends. It’s one of Audi’s favorites!

Muffy from Animal Crossing

Muffy from Animal Crossing

Muffy may not look like the friendliest islander. But look van be very deceiving. She is classified as a “sisterly” villager and she certainly lives up to the title. Her elegant style and welcoming personality make her a delight on just about any island. And with a little DIY you’ll have a Muffy costume perfect for an island – or convention – of your own!

Using purple and light pink paint, add stripes to a set of basic ram horns. Then use the lace panels listed here as the decorative headband that Muffy wears between her horns. Once the horns are ready you only need a few pieces to complete your costume.

A black wig, purple top, black belt, and black skirt make up the bulk of Muffy’s outfit. You can wear the skirt under the top and then add the belt. Or you can leave the belt off entire and tuck the shirt into the high waist of the skirt. Either option works for Muffy’s style!

White leggings (with a pocket for convention convenience) and black ballet flats round out the rest of her look. And finally you can accessorize with some black nail polish to finish off the costume!

Wendy from Animal Crossing

Wendy from Animal Crossing

Some villagers like to work out. Others like to play music. Wendy likes four things: DIY, MagLev Mike, chasing her dreams of pop stardom, and – of course – her friends. She loves sharing good news with other people on the island and spends most of her time socializing with her neighbors. Her personality is as playful as her style and it shows!

Setting up a Wendy costume requires a little bit of DIY. You’ll have to paint the horns in stripes of marigold yellow spaced out with pale yellow. Then you’ll want to wrap the headband in blue ribbon so it blends in better with the blue wig that mimics the wool on top of Wendy’s head.

A watermelon-print blouse, a blue ruffle skirt, brown leggings, and brown ballet flats finish the look. You can accessorize with a hammer from your DIY bench or – if you’re feeling the urge to chance Wendy’s dreams – a microphone so you’re always ready for your big popstar-slash-fashion designer break!

Paula from Animal Crossing

Paula from Animal Crossing

Sporty and caring, Paula is a delight on every island. She’s the sisterly type, always willing to lend a hand and step up if someone’s bothering you. And you know she’ll be around. With her love of sports and the outdoors, she’s all over the island!

You could get Paula’s look by springing for a bear suit and then adding the clothes on top. But for the sake of comfort – and nailing Paula’s adorable style – this costume is a blend of human and bear.

The first thing you’ll need is a pair of bear ears. Clip those into a blonde wig and you’ve got a good start. Then take white fabric paint and copy the script on Paula’s shirt. When it’s dry layer it over a blue camisole and brown leggings. Add on some tan shoes and a brow band in white and black stripes and you’re ready to do laps across the beaches! Just don’t scare off all the fish.

Raymond from Animal Crossing

Raymond is a character in the video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He is a smug cat villager, whose name means “advice” or “council giver.” He gets along with most other villagers, but he comes across as snooty and egotistical. As indicated by his business attire, Raymond is rather strict, and prefers neatness and precision. These qualities are exemplified in Pocket Camp, where he later appears. In addition, he has the nature hobby.

Kicks from Animal Crossing New Horizons

Kicks from Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Kicks is one of the wandering merchants that show up on your island at random in the game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. He sets himself up in the town square when he arrives and stays until late that night. Kicks is a skunk, but don’t let that put you off. Because if there is one thing about him that doesn’t stink, it’s his sense of fashion! Whether it’s shoes, socks, handbags, or accessories, he’s always got the latest and greatest!

The challenge with Animal Crossing characters is deciding how much of their animal nature to include. You can copy Kicks’ look by just copying his clothes or you can use black body paint and white body paint to achieve his classic skunk markings. You will also need peach body paint to create his nose.

In both cases you will want a white wig and pomade for styling as well as a yellow driver’s cap. A cream button down shirt, tan suspenders, yellow knee pants, brown boots, and white gloves make up the rest of his outfit. If you decide to go for the animal-accurate look you will also want black ears and a skunk tail in addition to your body paint.
