The Corinthian from The Sandman
The Corinthian (played by Boyd Holbrook) is a character from Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel The Sandman. The Corinthian is a nightmare created by Dream, who makes his way into the waking world where he indulges in murder and influences others to give in to their darker tendencies. In the Netflix adaptation, the Corinthian wears a long light grey trench coat and round-lens sunglasses to hide his “eyes,” which unlike humans are actually rows of teeth. He dresses well otherwise, so lean into your preppier side when recreating his look for a costume. He also favors a dagger as a weapon when not using his supernatural powers.
Dream from Sandman
Most people know him as Sandman but this immortal being’s name is actually Dream. Brother to death and bane of Satan’s existence, he is one of many immortals that drift in and out of the world of humans. Like his siblings, Dream’s appearance changes depending on the era and where in the world he finds himself. This gives cosplayers a lot of options, though there are a few things that remain constant no matter when or where Dream finds himself.
Dream’s clothes are always in shades of black and white. And, more often than not, his black hair is in wild disarray. When he’s not around humans he favors a pair of black pants, black boots, and a long flowing sweater or robe left open over his bare chest.
Even when Dream dresses to suit a particular time period he’s not always accurate. When you’re timeless, the fine details of mortal fashion probably don’t matter all that much. In the case of the Victorian era – or in many modern subcultures – the printed coat and pants paired with a white ruffled shirt and black boots is classic Dream.
Whichever look you choose, you’ll need a black wig styled in a bit of a fly-away style and a contour kit to mimic Dream’s shadowed and sharp look.
Destiny from Sandman
Like his siblings (collectively known as The Endless) Destiny’s name is also what he is. He is Destiny. Or the personification thereof at least. He is the calmest of his siblings and often plays host when the group has to gather for any reason.
Putting together a Destiny costume can be a little tricky as his cloak is depicted in shades of grey, brown, and even purple. As the nature of destiny changes, so does Destiny’s appearance. For this cosplay we’re choosing a brown cloak to match the image above. Invisible soles let you safely achieve a barefoot look while white body paint gives you an inhuman Endless look. A thick leather bound book with a chain leading out from it is the final and only accessory for this cosplay.
Death from Sandman
In the DC comic series The Sandman, Death is both the end of life and the guider of souls. Unlike most personifications of death, like the Grim Reaper, she is a young goth woman dressed in casual clothes who also visits people as they are born.
