Sara Howard from The Alienist
On TNT’s The Alienist, Sara Howard (portrayed by Dakota Fanning) is the first female employed by the New York Police Department. Sara is ambitious, hoping to use her position as Commissioner Theodore Roosevelt’s assistant as a stepping stone to one day becoming the first female police detective. She joins Dr. Kreizler and John Moore in their investigation of the murders of young male prostitutes and later becomes a private investigator. Sara comes from an affluent family and dresses as such in elaborate Victorian style. Recreating 19th century fashion can be difficult, so it’s important to get creative by mixing and matching historical costume pieces with contemporary items.
Sharona Fleming from Monk
For former San Francisco Police Detective Adrian Monk, the world is a jungle of germs, compulsions, and amazing water. Fortunately for him (and perhaps a bit unfortunately for her), his practical nurse, Bitty Schram’s Sharona Fleming is there to help him navigate it. At least, she was for the first two and a half seasons. Despite her uptight title, Sharona’s sense of style — a mix of punk and sixties retro — evokes a whimsical, “devil may care” vibe, perhaps to compensate for her daily stressors as the single mother of a rambunctious son, and careworn assistant to a man struggling with extreme OCD. Here, we’ve put together an approximation of various outfits Sharona’s worn throughout her time on Monk – she generally favors V-necks, miniskirts, numerous necklaces and chokers, and the color blue.
Dave from Dave
Rapper and comedian Lil’ Dicky (born and credited as Dave Burd) plays a fictionalized version of himself on the new FX show Dave. On the show, Dave is a semi-neurotic millennial working to achieve his dreams of becoming the next big rapper with the help of his producer Elz, girlfriend Ally, and hype man GaTa. Dave’s style is eclectic and bold, with plenty of pattern mixing and vintage-looking sweaters and jackets, as well as a pastel colored suit to help him look fresh when meeting with record execs.
Haiji from Run with the Wind
Haiji Kiyose is the captain of the track team he created at Kansei University. With extreme dedication, Haiji sets his eyes on the Hakone Ekiden competition. He is outgoing, friendly, a great leader, and even cooks for his teammates. He does everything, which could cause him more harm than good. Haiji balances his leadership duties in Run With The Wind (Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru).
Madara Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden
Madara Uchiha was one of the founders of Konohagakure. Madara saved and trained Obito Uchiha, and entrusted the latter with his plans and his name upon his eventual death, leading to Obito using the name Madara throughout much of his life. Madara wears a cowl neck robe and shinobi pants, with red samurai armor over top. Finding red armor can be difficult, so using red paint over light colored armor can help you achieve the same look.
Lena Luthor from Supergirl
Did someone say #bosslady? Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) is the CEO of L-Corp, a company she took over from her brother Lex, the self-proclaimed greatest criminal mind. When their agendas align, Lena is a staunch ally of Supergirl and her friends; independently, she considers Kara Danvers (Supergirl’s alter ego) a dear friend.
Lena’s outfits on The CW’s Supergirl reflect her businesslike attitude, revolving around dressy blouses, pencil skirts, and blazers. This tutorial shows you how to recreate two of her more formal outfits: one consisting of a blazer set, buttoned-down blouse, and vest; and one that incorporates a more adventurous sheer lace top that reminds me of one of Katie McGrath’s more medieval roles.
Li Lan from The Ghost Bride
Li Lan, played by Pei-jia Huang, accepts a proposal of being a ghost bride to help with family debt. She needs to solve the mystery surrounding the death of a wealthy family’s arrogant son, essentially her ghost spouse, if she wants out of the proposal without gaining back the debt. Going in between the living world and the world of the dead, Li Lan unwillingly partners with the selfish Heavenly Guard Er Lang to accomplishment her goal. The duo learn from each other and discover the values of life in The Ghost Bride.
Emily from Little Bear
In the summertime, Emily (voiced by Jennifer Martini) visits her grandmother’s home near the forest where Little Bear and his anthropomorphic animal friends live. There, they have a slew of adventures together, whether they’re going to the moon or contemplating the existence of mermaids. (“That’s the thing about mermaids … you never can tell!”) In the show, Emily is apparently seven years old, and dresses like a young girl from the early twentieth century. Recreating her outfit in contemporary adult women’s clothes can be, as Little Bear would say, “Iiiinteresting.”
Caleb Nichols from Westworld
In season 3 of Westworld, Caleb Nichols (played by Aaron Paul) joins up with Dolores after he helps her when she is injured. Dolores shows Caleb the extent to which his life is controlled and his fate determined by others in order to recruit him to her cause. As a veteran, Caleb suffers with some amount of PTSD and survivor’s guilt. When season 3 begins, Caleb works construction with a robot companion, while also completing criminal acts after hours for additional cash. Whether dressed for work, criminal activity, or infiltrating a 1%ers party, Caleb typically wears clothing that is dark grey or black. Prior to his recruitment by Dolores, Caleb wears coveralls with orange pocket flaps to his construction job.
Gia Bennett from Euphoria
In Euphoria, Gia Bennet played Storm Reid is Rue’s little sister. Her character has not developed very much as of yet. Gia was the one who found Rue when She overdosed and definitely has trauma around that. As the year goes on and Gia is getting older she begins hanging out with other kids who do drugs. Rue loses her and then later catches her smoking pot at the festival. Gia dresses a lot like her big sister Rue. Oversized tees and skinny jeans are part of her casual attire.
