Nancy Green from Big City Greens

Nancy Green (voiced by Wendi McLendon-Covey) is the ex-wife of Bill Green and mother of Tilly and Cricket, the main characters of Big City Greens. She is a hardcore animal rights activist who has been arrested several times for releasing animals from their cages in factory farms.

Nancy has a very simple look even when she’s not in her pajamas like the picture above. She wears a leather biker jacket and leather boots (both of which are fake leather as Nancy likes to point out) along with a cropped purple tank top and jeans. A black leather belt with a large belt buckle finish her look while her curly red hair is her signature.

Mark Watney from The Martian

Mark Watney (played by Matt Damon) is the unfortunate protagonist of both the book and the film The Martian. A sand storm leaves him stranded on Mars when the rest of his crew has reason to believe he’s dead. It becomes his mission to survive until they come back and rescue him.

While a full astronaut’s suit might seem like the most obvious costume for Mark Watney, it’s not his most iconic outfit from the film. That honor belongs to the clothes he wears while terraforming the inside of his habitat so he can grow crops.

The outfit is very simple and consists of light grey slip on shoes, grey cargo pants, a blue henley, and an official NASA sweatshirt in navy. Safety goggles and blue gloves can be added to recreate specific scenes when he was working with the soil. To really round out the costume, though, you’ll want to bring a few potatoes with you. And maybe some ketchup. Because Mark Watney will be the first to say that potatoes are always better with ketchup.

Tae Kwon Doug from Disjointed

Tae Kwon Doug from Disjointed

Tae Kwon Doug – also known as Douglas and played by Michael Trucco from Hush and Battlestar Galactica – is the rather inept antagonist on Disjointed. Though he starts the show firmly anti-drug (and woefully misinformed) he slowly comes around to the staff of the dispensary next to his dojang. He takes a special liking to Pete who he ends up treating as a sort of adopted son.

To cosplay as Doug you’ll want to get a dobok – the Korean term for a gi. You’ll also need a black belt and a headband as well as a few patches. It’s hard to have as many as Doug does, however, since he adds a new patch with each episode. Finish off the look with some camo camping crocs and you’re ready to take out the nearest BioWave.

Wally West from The Flash

Wally West / Kid Flash from The Flash

Wally West (played by Keiynan Lonsdale) is the son of Joe West and brother of Iris West-Allen. His mother left Joe and then discovered her pregnancy so Wally did not grow up knowing his father or his sister. He quickly takes a place on Team Flash and becomes Kid Flash as well as The Flash in certain timelines.

When he isn’t saving the world as a speedster he spends his time drag racing and trying to find where he fits in the wider world. He tends to prefer comfortable clothes like jeans, flannel button ups, and t-shirts as well as shoes he can easily drive in. And while his Flash costume is usually yellow, he has been known to wear the iconic red when called on to do so.

Jimmy from Ed, Edd, n Eddy

Jimmy from Ed, Edd, n Eddy

Jimmy (voiced by Keenan Christensen) is the neighborhood “soft” kid. He’s prone to tears, acts more delicate than he is, and inspires either protective instincts or the urge to tease. It all depends on who he’s talking to. Of course that’s only part of Jimmy’s personality. Under the surface is a devious and clever mind that you don’t want to get on the bad side of!

Cosplaying as Jimmy requires a little bit of DIY. For his hair you’ll either have to style your own hair using some serious pomade or you’ll want to use a blonde wig styled with something like an overdone pompadour in the front. Some heavy-gauge wire, a glue gun, and a plastic headband will recreate Jimmy’s iconic headgear. And after that all you need is a blue long sleeve shirt, cargo pants. and black shoes. After that it’s all about attitude and you’ve got the perfect Jimmy cosplay!

Luz Noceda's Grom Outfit from The Owl House

Luz Noceda’s Grom Outfit from The Owl House

The Owl House is set in a magical, fantastical world. And prom – I mean Grom – is no exception. Instead of loud music and the fanciest dresses the kids have ever worn, though, the students of the Boiling Isles have a terrible monster to contend with. And, of course, their worst nightmares. Thankfully Amity and Luz don’t have to go through it alone!

Luz (voiced by Sarah-Nicole Robles) rocks a  Grom outfit as unique as she is. Thankfully you don’t need to know magic to put together a cosplay of the look!

Start with a short, dark wig and add in some clip-on earrings. A white bow tie, white button up shirt, and black tuxedo jacket get the look started. Luz’s jacket has blue lapels and cuffs which is a hard detail to find pre-made. But some blue fabric paint will copy the look nicely.

Finish off her outfit with some blue leggings, a pink tutu, and black boots. Voila, you’re all set for your own spooky Grom night fun!

Soji Asha from Star Trek: Picard

Soji Asha (played by Isa Briones who also played Soji’s twin sister Dahj as well as another android named Sutra) is one of two androids that were designed to look human. And, more impressive still, they were programmed to believe they are human. Their programming is descended from Data, a fan favorite on Star Trek: The Next Generation. While Data was unfortunately killed before the events of Star Trek: Picard, he lives on in his ‘daughters’.

Soji’s costume changes a few times throughout the show because, unlike most characters in previous Star Trek shows, she is not a Starfleet officer. Her costume when viewers first meet her, however, is very recognizable and makes for a great cosplay.

A grey jumpsuit forms the base. You can also use a grey shirt and matching pants but a jumpsuit would be easiest. Wear a black undershirt and black boots with it. Copy Soji’s hairstyle with a short wig and, as the final touch, add a necklace of two linked circles just like the one Soji and Dahj wear.

Nakia from Black Panther

Nakia from Black Panther

Nakia (played by the fantastic Lupita Nyong’o) is one of Wakanda’s best spies in Black Panther. She regularly leaves Wakanda to help others and to ensure that the country she loves remains safe. When Wakandan civil war breaks out she is quick to defend her king and the beliefs they share. And though she tells Okoye she is not a general, her strength and compassion clearly rally those around her!

Nakia’s most memorable costume – the one she wears in the final battle of the Wakandan civil war – is gorgeously ornate. It’s not an easy look to recreate but you can get close with this premade dress costume. Add black leggings and boots under that for a battle-ready look. Of course Nakia joins the battle fully prepared! She carries two ring blades or chakrams. You might not have access to Shuri’s tech but embedded LED lights in the props pictures above get you close! Add to that a Dora Milaje spear and a vibranium bracelet and you’re ready for battle too!

Jason Voorhees from Freddy VS Jason

Jason Voorhees from Freddy vs. Jason

Jason Voorhees in Freddy vs. Jason (played by Ken Kirzinger) is one of the two titular characters. Just don’t expect a lot of lines out of him. He’s as silent as Freddy Krueger is chatty, after all. And once Freddy brings him back from the dead and sets him loose on Springwood. Of course the two can’t work together for long before they’re at war with one another leaving the original victims caught in the middle.

The important thing to know about Jason’s look is that you’re going to have to rip, stain, and distress anything he wears. This is why a more generic work jacket is listed above instead of what was used in production which is very likely a Carhartt. Under the jacket Jason wears a brown button up, torn at the collar, and a black t-shirt. He also wears black pants and boots.

Jason has been dead a while which is a hard look to recreate without some serious prosthetics. You can recreate the look, though, with black gloves and a black hood mask as well as black SFX paint to streak your neck with and use behind the eye holes of his trademark mask.

After that all you need are his hockey mask and his machete and you’re just as terrifying as Jason himself!

Sly Cooper from Sly Cooper

Sly Cooper

Sly Cooper (voiced by Kevin Miller) is a renowned thief. Which makes sense for a young man who comes from a long line of thieves. Whether he’s traveling through time, outwitting the authorities around the globe, or sneaking into places though too secure to rob, he’s the man with a plan. And the skills to pull it off!

Since Sly is a raccoon there are a few unique components to his costume. Grey ears, a grey tail, and grey SFX paint will mimic the raccoon look. Of course you can just opt for the tail and ears while skipping the body paint if you prefer!

His clothes are fairly straightforward. A blue cap and black eye mask really tip him off as a thief. A yellow bandana around the neck mimics his collar while a blue shirt, grey pants, and blue boots finish the main part of the outfit. Yellow fabric paint is handy for painting the cuffs of some blue gloves for an extra touch. And, of course, you’ll need his hooked staff.
