In 10 Cloverfield Lane, Emmett DeWitt (played by John Gallagher, Jr.) was hired prior to the events of the film by Howard to help him build an underground bunker on his property.  When Emmett witnesses a dangerous otherworldly event, he goes immediately to the one place he will be safe and Howard reluctantly allows him to remain in the bunker after Emmett forces his way in, resulting in his broken arm.  However, when Emmett and Michelle become closer and begin to question Howard's motives and mindset, things take a dark turn for everyone in the bunker.  Emmett wears relaxed jeans, a grey tank top, and plaid overshirt throughout most of the movie.
