Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project
In the sixth entry into the Touhou Project game series, Flandre Scarlet is the younger daughter of Remilia Scarlet. Considered by her sister to be dangerously unstable, Flandre has resided in the basement of the Scarlet Devil Mansion for nearly 500 years. Flandre’s most distinctive feature are her multicolor crystal wings, which can be expensive as a prop, but will truly complete the costume. If you have some DIY crafting skills, you may be able to create your own with thick craft wire and rainbow colored crystal pendants.
SCP 1471-A from SCP Containment Breach
SCP 1471 is a mysterious app that, once downloaded, eventually leads to the user seeing SCP 1471-A, a humanoid wolf creature with a skull for a face and creepy, milk-white eyes. While SCP 1471-A’s true intentions are not fully understood, it is generally considered best to avoid it in the game SCP: Containment Breach. To create an SCP 1471-A costume, you will need an animal skull mask, tattered wolf ears attached to a messy black wig, and wolf-like hands and feet. While the game version shows SCP 1471-A dressed in black shirt and pants, there are many interpretations of its clothing, though its costume almost always includes rope tied around the waist like a belt.
Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls
In Dark Souls, the Soul of Cinder is a being made up of all previous lords of Cinder. This not only makes it incredibly hard to beat but also terrifying to behold. Getting the exact look takes some painting skill and possibly wearable pyrotechnics (which we really don’t recommend). But we’ve found pieces that will get you close!
To start you’ll want a black compression shirt and compression pants. They’re tight fitting and breathable so your clothes won’t get twisted up under your armor and you won’t overheat too quickly. On top of that you’ll want a set of knight’s armor, though we recommend plastic over metal for ease of movement. You’ll also need a set of swords to deal with the challengers you’re sure to encounter. If you’ve got a bit of extra money to spend you can get a Cinder replica helmet. They aren’t easily affordable, however, and with some paint a standard knight helmet should do the trick. And finally a can of chalky gray spray paint topped with an oxidizing effects paint kit should help give your armor the eternally burned look Soul of Cinder is known for.
Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog
Tails is Sonic the Hedgehog’s faithful sidekick. The two have been through so many adventures together that listing them all here – or the voice actors, artists, and writers involved – would create a book! Needless to say Tails always has Sonic’s back and this costume will always have yours!
There are a few ways to cosplay as Tails. The first uses body paint and clothes you might find in your closet to create the color of Tails’ fur. The other uses an orange body suit and white felt for Tails’ body and face paint to create his orange and white facial features.
Both looks require white gloves, slouchy white socks, red and a white sneakers, and – of course – two tails in addition to an orange wig and fox ears.
TF2 Demoman
Demoman (voiced by Gary Schwartz) is a Scottish demolitions expert, and one of the most versatile characters in Team Fortress 2. Typically armed with his grenade launcher and stickybomb launcher, Demoman can effectively stave off enemies, while he is also very proficient in melee combat. The Demoman’s rockets look a lot like large the foam ammo often used in toy missile launchers, which can make them a fun addition to your costume.
Flammadask Player from Sladderdask
Sladderdask is a game of dueling where players use sticky hands to slap their opponents. Flammadask refers to the red sticky hands that some players use, which are meant to represent the elemental power of fire. Different colored hands may have different elemental powers associated with them. In the Malvin Studios Sladderdask game, the Flammadask player avatar wears a red baseball cap and a red sweater with a yellow stripe across the chest. While finding an exact match for this sweater may be difficult, using a sweater with a different colored stripe or painting one on yourself with some yellow fabric paint can achieve the same look.
Marty from Papa Louie
Marty is the laid-back guitartist for Scarlett and the Shakers. When he’s not rocking with his band he’s manning the grill at Papa’s Burgeria or enjoying some Atomic Sauce on his favorite Papa Louie creations!
Atomic sauce – or Marty’s signature burger guitar – is a little hard to find. But the rest of his costume is not. A spiky blonde wig and blonde soul patch get you started. From there you need a denim vest and a pair of jeans in the same light denim color. Add in a red and white striped shirt, a grey belt, and black converse and you’re all set!
Laurie Strode from Dead by Daylight and Halloween
Laurie Strode is the final girl of Halloween (1978) and is arguably the most quintessential form of the archetype. Played by scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, she has been hunted by Michael Myers for over forty years, across more than half a dozen films. She debuted in Dead by Daylight in Chapter II.
The Pig from Dead by Daylight
The Pig is the moniker used by apprentices/successors of Jigsaw. There have been many over the years, though they do not vary much in appearance. The male ones typically don Jigsaw’s red and black robe, while the female ones wear long red leather coats, both of which help deal with the bloody affair that is kidnapping victims and setting up Jigsaw’s games. In the game Dead by Daylight, Amanda Young is a devoted pupil of Jigsaw who assumes the identity of the Pig following her own death. To recreate the Pig’s costume, you’ll need a pig mask with wig and a red leather coat layered over a pair of jeans. You can use a simple red trench coat, or if you want the full length of the costume in the game, you could layer a red moto jacket with a hood over a faux leather skirt that you cut in the middle.
Chris from Until Dawn
Christopher “Chris” Hartley (voiced and acted by Noah Fleiss) is the resident geek of the Until Dawn group. He’s protective and selfless to a (potentially) fatal degree.
His costume is fairly straightforward though very warm. Basic jeans and sensible boots make up the base. Cosplayers than have to layer a white graphic tee, a blue button up, a green zip-up knit sweater, and a blue winter jacket. The shirt pictured above is not the exact shirt as that shirt does not exist. But if you can get a clear image of the shirt design from the game, many shirt makers may be able to replicate it.
Cosplayers can also add a bruise to the left side of their face if they want to recreate a mid-game look after Chris has survived a few attacks. As long as they keep the layers and the glasses, the costume will still be true to the game!
