Herbsaint Sazerac from The French Dispatch

Herbsaint Sazerac (played by Owen Wilson) is a writer for the French Dispatch in Wes Anderson’s film of the same name. Sazerac is rarely seen without his trusty camera or beret, and can often be found with his red bicycle in tow as he investigates his stories.

Harriet Smith from Emma

Harriet Smith (played by Mia Goth) is an orphan and pupil at Mrs. Goddard’s boarding school in Highbury. She becomes Emma Woodhouse’s closest friend in both the book and film versions of Jane Austen’s Emma. Harriet is a naive young girl who is easily swayed by Emma and her preferences. Harriet can often be found wearing a red cape, which is part of her boarding school uniform.

In the film Brokeback Mountain, Ennis Del Mar (played by Heath Ledger) is a soft-spoken cowboy who embarks on a passionate love affair with fellow cowboy Jack Twist.  Despite marrying his long-time fiance Alma and having two daughters with her, Ennis cannot deny his attraction to and love for Jack, though he is afraid of the potential consequences of their relationship.  Ennis wears a light beige cowboy hat and soft colored denim throughout much of the film.

In the film Inception, Arthur (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is the trusted partner of Cobb who researches and plans each heist.  Arthur is an adept fighter, which is shown during one of the film’s most iconic scenes in a rotating hotel hallway unbound to the laws of gravity.  Arthur also has a friendly rivalry with Eames, who teases him constantly, and he uses a red loaded die as his totem.  While Arthur’s clothing changes depending on the needs of his team and the job, he favors crisp three-piece suits throughout much of the film and wears his hair slicked back.

Iñárritu’s Birdman or (the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Michael Keaton plays Riggan, an actor best known for portraying a superhero called Birdman in the ’90s.  Riggan’s daughter Sam is an addict in recovery as well as his assistant.  Riggan is attempting to mount a career comeback by writing, directing, and starring in a Broadway play opposite Mike Shiner.  Riggan’s grasp on reality is tenuous at best, as he often imagines himself levitating and flying as well as having conversations with his Birdman persona.

Mr. Knightley (played by Johnny Flynn in the newest film adaptation) is Emma Woodhouse’s closest confidant in Jane Austen’s Emma. George is kind and intelligent, with the wit necessary to match Emma, but much more maturity at his disposal. Mr. Knightley’s dress is typical of the regency era in which Jane Austen’s novels are mostly set.

As a vampire, her premonitions of the future are intensified, and are most often accurate. Alice is eccentric, yet extremely kind towards Bella Swan. Ashley Greene portrays her in the movie adaptations. In the iconic baseball scene set to “Supermassive Black Hole” by Muse, she is the pitcher. The scene opens up with a strike of lightning and thunder, and Alice announces: “It’s time.”

In Hocus Pocus, Billy Butcherson is Winifred’s deceased ex-boyfriend. After he cheated on her with Sarah, Winifred punished him by sowing his mouth shut. The Sanderson sisters summon him as their minion, but he ends up helping the kids defeat them. He is portrayed by actor Doug Jones. You can use black eyeliner or face paint to draw stitches over your lips. There are more detailed makeup tutorials, but be sure to paint your face and hands light green for that “just rose from the grave” look.
