Tiny Tina from Borderlands (2024)
Borderlands is a movie based off of the original video games. It follows a bounty hunter that joins a team of misfits who fight monsters and bandits together.
Tiny Tina in the film, like her original character, has a quirky unique look with patchwork and lots of personality. To dress like Tiny Tina, start with a floral long-sleeve shirt at the base. Take the sleeve up to a bit above the elbow of a gray flare sleeved sweater, then attach this right above the elbow of the floral shirt. Don’t worry about having perfect seams in this costume, as it’s supposed to look scrappy. Over this, wear a color-block pastel t-shirt and cut it off at the center of the chest, or right under the sleeves. Take a brown striped tshirt and cut it off the same point, then attach the bottom half of the brown shirt to the rest of the pastel one. For pants, wear orange joggers/ sweatpants under a gray circle skirt. At the waist, wear a holographic or dark fanny pack. Attach the smiley button on one side of your shirt. For the headband, you can buy a custom on Etsy or 3-D print, but another clever option is to take futuristic prop sunglasses, and wear across your forehead. If it’s too loose, attach some elastic or pin in your hair. You could even use some string or whatever scrappy piece you find. For the ears, either wear a bunny ears headband or cut the ears off and attach them to the headband, while keeping in mind it may weigh it down slightly. Add a pink bandaid to your nose and use some temporary hot pink color to add streaks in your hair. You can also wear a yellow rain jacket over it all. If the costume looks too bright for you take some watered down brown acrylic or fabric paint and distress your costume layer by layer, focusing at the seams. You can also run over them with sandpaper.
Mom from The Brak Show
In The Brak Show, a spin-off of Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Mom is a creature of the same species as Brak. Her fashion is like a 1950s sitcom mom, specifically June Cleaver, with the vintage cocktail dress and pink apron. She’s the only character on the show that could be considered sane.
Andie Anderson from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
Andie Anderson is a character from the romantic comedy, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and is played by Kate Hudson. Andie needs to prove that she can dump a guy within 10 days, while her love interest Ben tries to do the opposite.
To dress like Andie in her iconic yellow dress look, wear a maxi light yellow satin dress with a v-neck or spaghetti strap neckline. With this, wear matching heels, a silver necklace, and carry a white clutch or purse.
Lady Gaga from Die With A Smile
Die With A Smile is a brand new song featuring both Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. The music video released along with it, which has bright fashions that are 70s inspired, and remind us of artists like Porter Wagoner and Dolly Parton. This would make a great duo costume with the matching look Bruno Mars wore in the video.
To dress like Gaga in the video, wear a turquoise blue longsleeve dress over a red pussybow blouse. Pair this with red tights and red heels. For makeup, she goes for more of a modern look to contrast the rest. To create this, wear a nude lip and black eyeliner to make the graphic eye look. She also wears a Dolly Parton-style 70s wig that is very tall, nearing the drag side. Do this by wearing a 70s wig or if more experienced, layer another curly one on top and sew it together. Finally, wear matching blue nail polish and carry a prop cigarette.
Joshua Kiryu from The World Ends With You
Joshua (voiced in Japanese by Ryōhei Kimura, and in English by Aaron Spann [games]/Clifford Chapin [anime] is one of the main characters and also one of Neku’s biggest problems in the anime/game series The World Ends With You.
He is the second person that Neku partners with while in the Reaper’s Game, and can be rather insufferable to most of the people around him, though he gets along relatively well with Mr. Hanekoma.
Joshua has near shoulder length wavy ash blonde hair, and grey violet eyes. His usual outfit is a greyish purple collared button down short-sleeved shirt with white cuffs, that he wears untucked, and a pair of wide ankle grey pants. It’s finished off with white lace up shoes with dark grey soles.
Snow White (2025)
Snow White is a classic Disney animated princess film that you may be familiar with. There is a brand new, live-action adaptation of it coming out next year, which starts the very talented Rachel Zegler.
To dress like Snow White from this upcoming film, starting with the top, there isn’t one out yet that is exactly like hers which looks to be a velvet material, but for now you can take the top from previous available, pre-made costumes. You can either cut off this part, but it may be easier just to wear this at the base. Over this, you’ll want to achieve the very full yellow skirt. You can wear one, or layer multiple yellow full tulle skirts. This costume cuts straight across at the waist, so wear the over-skirts slightly above the waistline of the base costume. If there is a ribbon, you can fold it under, remove it, or tuck it in. Wear white tights underneath with red ballet flats. Finally, either style your own hair in a similar fashion or style a short black wig.
Triumphant Skin Willow from Don’t Starve Together
This article will be focusing on Willow’s Triumphant skin from Don’t Starve Together, if you would like to see her main outfit, please check out this article over here!
For her Triumphant skin, her hair changes to be more of a wavy, flame-like texture (or shadows, according to the game), though for the most part the rest of her doesn’t change. Her outfit mainly consists of a long, bell-skirted black dress with short, puff sleeves, and an interior grey collar tied with a red ribbon. This is finished off with black heeled shoes, similar to the ones she wears normally.
Wicked Witch of the West from The Wizard of Oz
The Wicked Witch of the West is one of the most iconic characters in film, and is the protagonist in the classic film, The Wizard of Oz. She was played by Margaret Hamilton. It truly defined how we picture witches when we think of them today.
To re-create this iconic costume, start with using a green face and body paint on your hands and face. Use other makeup like browns and grays to define the brows, eyes, and cheekbones. Wear your hair up and back, such as a low bun. Wear a high-neck black blouse, a maxi black skirt, and a black corset at the waist. Attach a small black pouch to the corset and pair with black heeled boots to cover the ankles and legs not painted. Black socks would also work if you need more length. Finally, wear a simple witch hat and carry a broomstick.
