jibran from the lovebirds

Jibran from The Lovebirds

Jibran (played by Kumail Nanjiani) is the boyfriend of Leilani in the Netflix romantic comedy The Lovebirds.  Jibran and Leilani’s relationship seems to have run its course at the beginning of the movie, but they then find themselves on the run after a deadly encounter with a bicyclist and a mysterious man with a mustache.  Jibran wears several costumes throughout the film, but by far the most fun is the gold metallic jacket and “Professional Bead Hunter” t-shirt he dons in the middle.  While finding the exact shirt may not be possible, look for a fun Mardi Gras-themed t-shirt to fit the bill.  If you’re looking for something more sophisticated, Jibran’s colorful borrowed tux and gold mask are a great choice.

Billy Lee from Bad Times at the El Royale

Billy Lee from Bad Times at The El Royale

William “Billy” Lee is the main antagonist in the movie Bad Times at the El Royale. He is played by Chris Hemsworth and largely inspired by real-life cult leader Charles Manson.

The movie is set in the 1970s and this sets the tone for Lee’s costume. He has long feathered hair and a goatee that is an iconic part of his costume. Billy Lee is also know for wearing an open chambray shirt with nothing underneath. If you’re not comfortable with this look you can wear a skin-tone t-shirt beneath. Or, if you’re feeling cheeky, you can buy a shirt printed with abs like Hemsworth’s and wear that beneath the overshirt.

A long chain necklace, dark jeans, a brown leather belt with a sheathed knife, and flip flops round out the look. If you can talk people into just about anything you’ll be fully in character. A little scary… but fully in character!

Banshee from X-Men

Banshee from the X-Men

Banshee – also known as Sean Cassidy – is an Irish mutant with the power of “Sonic Scream”. He first appeared in X-Men #28 (1967) and has made a few appearanes throughout various runs since then. Cassidy is both a former NYPD officer as well as an Interpol agent. When Banshee works with the X-Men he is usually a full decade or more older than the other members of his team and is usually places in a mentor role.

Although the character appears in X-Men: First Class he is best known from his portrayal in the comics. And though the specifics of his costume have changed there are a few things that stay constant. His suit is always green with yellow markings on the chest. You can use fabric paint to get the exact markings you want so that you can choose which costume variation to go with.

His costumes also have yellow boots and yellow gloves as well as wings of some kind that attach under the arms, along the sides, and down the legs. These can be replicated using a large shawl such as the one pictured above. Older variations of Banshee also have him smoking a long-stemmed pipe, though this accessory fell out of use in the ’90s.
