Marvel Civilian Disguise
Are you a well-known superhero looking for intel while incognito? A celebrity crime fighter just trying to have a quiet lunch out on the town? Then the “I’m Just a Civilian” starter pack is for you! In almost every Marvel movie, one of our cherished Avengers dons a baseball cap, a hoodie, and a pair of sunglasses to blend in with their surroundings. Depending on whether you are trying to emulate Tony Stark’s Iron Man, Steve Rogers’ Captain America, or another member of the team, you can play around with the color of your hat, your glasses, and what you wear beneath your hoodie or jacket. This is a great way to use your favorite superhero t-shirt as part of a simple–but clever–costume.
Gauko from Dino Girl Gauko
Netflix has some pretty interesting cartoons but one of the most unusual is Dino Girl Gauko. It’s set in a world that is like ours yet utterly bizarre with aliens, sentient comets, robot teachers. And, of course, a middle schooler who turns into a dinosaur when she gets angry. And that’s part of what makes cosplaying Naoko/Gauko (voiced by Naoko Matui or Corina Boettger in Japanese and English respectively) so tricky.
Cosplayers can choose to be her human form which is a fairly simple and cute outfit. White Mary Jane flats, white cuffed socks, and a white Dickie collar accent a flared coral skirt and a yellow t-shirt. When Naoko becomes Gauko, however, she loses her socks and shoes though everything else about her costume stays the same including her curly brown hair with bangs.
Cosplaying Gauko on the other hand requires green opaque tights and long green gloves. Cosplayers can look up a tutorial on making invisible shoes to go with their costume or they can grab a pair of green flats since Gauko wears no shoes. Gauko’s head is the real challenge though. She has the face of a dinosaur which means either using a mask or using face paint. If cosplayers choose the mask, though, they need to make sure they can keep their wig in place!
Claire from Trollhunters
Claire Nuñez (Lexi Medrano) is the strong willed go-getter in Trollhunters. She joins the crew while on her on journey to save her brother. She has talent in martial arts and gymnastics on top of her intelligence. Her boyfriend is Jim Lake Jr., and her weapon is the Shadow Staff.
Gemini
Gemini (May 21st to June 20th) is the mutable Air sign and the third number on the zodiac wheel. Ruled by Mercury and symbolized with the twins Gemini is most well known for their duality. The sign has many interests and constantly juggles many hobbies, careers, and friend groups. The downside is that Gemini does not have their feet planted in any one place leaving some to believe they are two faced. The Gemini costume works well with Gemini’s outgoing personality. The costume consists mainly of two tone color block patterns and bright glam accents. An ideal look for any Gemini on Halloween.
Jules Vaughn from Euphoria
Jules Vaughn played by Hunter Schafer is a teen trans-woman who has just moved to East Highland with her father. She is creative and dresses the part with an interest in fashion design. She meets Rue Bennet and the two form a deep friendship very fast that soon turns to romance. Jules is still figuring herself out and experimenting with her sexuality throughout the show while Rue has kept infatuated with only her. Jule’s style is cute and colorful with bright unique makeup. In this image, Jules has cloud-like wings drawn in white liner over her lids. You can apply that on top of a light nude shadow. (Search ‘Jules Vaughn cloud liner’ so you can get a close-up image to mimic the look. The lip topper will give your lips an extra shiny pop. Add some pink pomade at the ends of your hair. If you don’t have long hair and wish to use a wig apply the pomade to the wig. This costume is great for early fall and can be a comfortable casual look.
Emma Woodhouse from Emma
Emma Woodhouse (played by Anya Taylor-Joy) may be handsome, clever, and rich, but she can also be a bit naive and spoiled in the latest adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel. Throughout the film, Emma wears an array of colorful and intricate period costumes, providing ample opportunity to explore the regency era and create an outfit with colors and textures that speak to you.
SCP-049 from SCP – Containment Breach
SCP-049 is one of the terrifying creatures catalogued by the SCP Foundation. The SCP Foundation started as a form of online collaborative storytelling and has since morphed into a video game franchise among other things. SCP-049 appears in the game SCP – Containment Breach. It is humanoid and appears dressed as a surgeon from the European medieval era. Unfortunately this is not a doctor that heals. Any human it touches becomes a reanimated corpse that is bound to do the will of SCP-049.
Although SCP-049 is itself largely unknowable – since getting too close can turn you into an undead puppet – dressing up as SCP-049 is relatively easy. All you need is a black hooded cloak or robe, a grey plague doctor mask, black boots, and black gloves. It helps if you make the sleeves of the robe a bit tattered and if you wear black clothing underneath so it seems as if there is nothing under the robe but darkness and void.
Rue Bennett from Euphoria
Rue Bennet played by Zendaya is the main protagonist of Euphoria. She is commonly the narrator of the show and we as the viewer know her perspective first and foremost. Rue dresses casually with mostly plainclothes and one item that is heavily patterned. She wears minimal makeup besides glitter under her eyes dripping down in almost a tear like stream.

Every iteration of Janet is played by D’Arcy Carden. Bad Janets are known for typing away on their phone 24/7, so if you have to text someone, you can say it’s part of the character!
