Carbon Costume

Hera is a character from the new Netflix series KAOS, and is played by Janet McTear. KAOS is a modern dark comedy series that is inspired by the characters and stories of Greek mythology.

To dress like Hera, wear a gold or mustard yellow satin blouse tucked into wide-leg pants of the same color. To create her other look which features a blue-green patterned loose dress, take a blue or green patterned kimono/ robe. Wear a thin brown leather belt at the waist to hold it together and wear a slip dress or anything underneath. Pair both of these with different gold jewelry, specifically a long necklace with a stone pendant.

Topsy Turvy is a character from the musical film, Mary Poppins Returns, and is played by Meryl Streep. Her costume is one that is eclectic and quirky, matching her personality. There are many pieces to her costume but when broken down, isn’t all that difficult to put together, and is definitely worth the crafting.

Starting with the base, wear a satin green v-neck tank top tucked into a black maxi skirt. For shoes, give the same feel of the mismatch boots by wearing green suede heels and pink and black striped socks. For her robe, take a black and multicolored kimono/ robe, and either cut off part of it at the hem to sew the trim or leave it and sew it on top. The trim is a 12+ long green fringe. You can also cover the seam with a ribbon to make it a cleaner transition. For her accessories, wear different colored chunky bangle bracelets, a necklace made of colored pencils, and champagne tassel earrings. Wear a metallic scarf or knotted turban on your head and stick two paint fan brushes in an x formation through the front knot. To create the clock belt, start with a green waist belt as the base. Make a clock by cutting out the base on Bristol board, cover with green construction paper, and put a smaller white piece over that. Here you can sketch out a clock or print out one and glue it. On the back, attach magnets with glue and to the belt. This makes for a much lighter belt than using a real clock. Finally, make your hair similar to hers or wear a wig, and for makeup, wear a yellow eyeshadow, a graphic black eyeliner, and a red lip.

Lee Harker is the main character in the new popular horror film, Longlegs, and is played by Maika Monroe. Longlegs is a horror/ mystery following the story of Harker, an FBI agent who is assigned a case of a serial killer until she discovers a connection to him during her attempts to stop him.

To dress like Lee Harker, wear a white button down shirt, gray dress pants, black boots or any black shoes, and an FBI prop badge lanyard. Wear your hair in a low ponytail and create spots of blood similar to the photo on your chest and above an eyebrow with fake blood makeup.

Lost in Translation is one of Scarlett Johansson’s best films. She plays the character of Charlotte alongside Bill Murray. The story follows a lonely movie star named Bob Harris and newlywed Charlotte who meet in Tokyo and form a bond after learning what they have in common.

To dress like Charlotte in her iconic pink wig costume, wear a pink bob wig, a black dress with an asymmetrical neckline, and carry a prop microphone. Another look of hers features a casual gray sweater vest worn over a blue striped button down shirt.

Rarity (voiced by Tabitha St. Germain, with her singing voice being Kazumi Evans) is part of the main group of characters in the TV series, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. This article will be covering her human variation from Equestria Girls.

For this version, she’s got the exact same extreme swooped blueish purple hairstyle as in her pony form, along with the same blue eyes. She wears a triple diamond hairclip at her temple, and light blue eyeshadow. Her usual outfit consists of a very light, almost white, blue scoop neck shirt with elbow-length sleeves, and a mid-toned purple skirt with her diamond cutie mark on the lower side of it. The two pieces are held together with a black belt at her waist with a blue buckle. The rest of the outfit is finished off with knee-high dark purple heeled boots with a lighter purple top piece, decorated with the same blue diamond gemstones, and golden bangle bracelets on each wrist.

Alexa Cabrera is a professional wrestler signed to WWE who performs under the ring name Alexa Bliss. She is married to musician Ryan Cabrera. She has also starred in a few reality TV shows. Her style is both girly and spunky. Her main colors are pink and black, sometimes blue. This guide serves as a good base for a costume. Use pink and gray fabric paint on the bra and shorts for a more accurate design.

Mia is the main character from the 2001 film, The Princess Diaries, and is played by Anne Hathaway. It tells the story of Mia, a teenager who learns she is actually a princess. She goes on a journey to learn how to be one alongside the guidance of her grandmother, Queen Renaldi.

To dress like Mia before she undergoes her princess makeover, wear a navy blazer, a blue peter-pan collar shirt, a blue plaid skirt, tall navy socks, brown shoes, a blue bow under your shirt collar, and some glasses. Finally, frizz up your hair a bit and add some hair clips.

Eleanor Miller (voiced by Janice Karmen) is a supporting character in the cartoon series Alvin and the Chipmunks.  Eleanor is a member of the Chipettes alongside her sisters Brittany and Jeanette.  Strong willed and confident, Eleanor often stands up to her sister Brittany when she feels she is out of line.  Brittany has pale blonde hair she wears in high pigtails and wears a mint-colored outfit which includes a skirt, striped tie, and vest over a white button down shirt.  She completes the look with tall white socks and black Mary Jane shoes.
