Emmett DeWitt from 10 Cloverfield Lane
In 10 Cloverfield Lane, Emmett DeWitt (played by John Gallagher, Jr.) was hired prior to the events of the film by Howard to help him build an underground bunker on his property. When Emmett witnesses a dangerous otherworldly event, he goes immediately to the one place he will be safe and Howard reluctantly allows him to remain in the bunker after Emmett forces his way in, resulting in his broken arm. However, when Emmett and Michelle become closer and begin to question Howard’s motives and mindset, things take a dark turn for everyone in the bunker. Emmett wears relaxed jeans, a grey tank top, and plaid overshirt throughout most of the movie.
Howard Stambler from 10 Cloverfield Lane
In 10 Cloverfield Lane, Howard Stambler (played by John Goodman) is a paranoid ex-Navy officer who is living with Michelle and Emmett in an underground bunker. He is estranged from his ex-wife Denise and beloved daughter Megan, whom he still attempts to contact against Denise’s wishes. During the events of the film, Howard’s motivations for bringing Michelle down to the bunker come into question. Howard is extremely paranoid and could be described as a stereotypical doomsday prepper in many ways. His clothing is utilitarian, typically consisting of a white t-shirt and a flannel worn over top and left unbuttoned.
Michelle from 10 Cloverfield Lane
In 10 Cloverfield Lane, Michelle (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is one of three people living in an underground bunker after the surface becomes uninhabitable. Early in the film, Michelle’s vehicle is driven off the road by a pickup truck, after which Howard finds her and brings her below ground. Michelle and Emmett become close and eventually decide to escape from Howard and his bunker when they uncover information about his past. Michelle’s clothing consists primarily of jeans and a white tank top. She also uses crutches for a portion of the film a result of injuries sustained during her car accident and has chipped red nail polish.
