Daisy Mason

Daisy Mason (Sophie McShera) is the assistant cook at Downton Abbey. Daisy is a sweet, romantic girl, though shes simple minded from her humble beginnings and short education. She can also be petulant at times. Her clothing is very soft and almost childish, which reflects her stunted emotional growth.

Elsie May Hughes

Elsie May Hughes (Phyllis Logan) is the head housekeeper at Downton Abbey who manages the entire servant branch. She is stern and ethical, never compromising her integrity or taking sides.

Isobel Crawley

On Downton Abbey, Isobel Crawley (Penelope Wilton) is an in-law of the Crawley family through her late husband, Dr. Reginald Crawley. As a daughter, sister, and wife of doctors, Isobel is well-educated and trained to be a nurse. She is low maintenance and values intelligence, education, charity, and family.

Anna Bates

On Downton Abbey, Anna Bates was the head housemaid of at Downton Abbey who became the lady’s maid to Lady Mary Crawley. She is also the wife of John Bates, who fought in the South African Wars with Robert Crawley. Anna is a loyal servant to the Crawley family, but she suffered considerable misfortune in her life.

Gwen Dawson

Gwen Dawson (Rose Leslie) is a maid at Downton Abbey. Though she comes from humble beginnings, she is determined to fulfill her dream of being a secretary. With Lady Sybil’s help, she eventually gets a secretary job at a telephone company. She is kind, sensitive, and reserved, though she made the bold move of crossing class boundaries to befriend Lady Sybil.

Lady Rosamund Painswick

On Downton Abbey, Lady Rosamund Painswick (Samantha Bond) is the widow of a wealthy banker. She is also the daughter of the late Earl of Grantham and Violet Crawley. She is very close to Robert Crawley, her only sibling. She likes to gossip and meddle in family affairs.

Lady Rose MacClare

Lady Rose MacClare (Lily James) is the wild, rebellious great-niece of Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, on Downton Abbey. Despite her upbringing, she is a open and free spirited, which leads her astray at times. Her wardrobe is glamorous, bright, and flashy, reflecting her bubbly personality and charm.

Lavinia Swire

On Downton Abbey, Lavinia Catherine Swire (Zoe Boyle) was the child of a solicitor and Matthew Crawley’s fiance. When Matthew became paralyzed in the war, he tried to spare Lavinia an unhappy life with him and calls off the wedding, but she wishes to marry him despite that. Prior to dying from Spanish Flu, Lavinia proves herself to be self-sacrificing and fiercely loyal.

Vera Bates

Vera Bates (Maria Doyle Kennedy) is the estranged wife of John Bates. She found herself a service position in the MacClare household, where the Robert Crawley’s cousin, the Marchioness of Flintshire, lives. She finds herself involved with the Crawley family through that connection. She is cunning and unscrupulous, using her knowledge and position to try to blackmail or control others.

Lady Edith Crawley

Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael) is the aristocratic second daughter of Robert and Cora Crawley on Downton Abbey. Set in post-Edwardian England, Lady Edith Crawley is glamorous and fashionable for the period. As many women from that period, she is concerned with class distinction and propriety, but she often pushes boundaries and establishes herself in the writing and business world.
