Hae Sung is a character from the romance-drama film Past Lives, and is played by Teo Yoo. Past Lives follows two childhood friends named Hae Sung and Nora who were separated when Nora’s family emigrated from South Korea. For a week they are reunited as they contemplate what life could’ve been if different choices were made.

The costumes in this film are simple ones but intentional. To dress like Hae Sung, stick to a blue color palette, button down shirts, and different colored pants or jeans, like his maroon jeans. He also carries a backpack and wears sneakers.

Elizabeth is a character from the new film May December, directed by Todd Hayes, and is played by Natalie Portman. May December is about an actress named Elizabeth that visits Gracie’s home to study her as she prepares to play her in a film role. The film takes place in Savannah, Georgia twenty years after a tabloid romance between Gracie and a much younger Joe Yoo.

Two recognizable looks that Elizabeth has is her look at the daughter of Gracie’s graduation which features a maxi white button-down dress and stylish black sunglasses. Another is her matching apron look with Gracie which is a floral and white apron and a white short sleeve dress. We see their costumes become more and more similar as Elizabeth spends time with her and begins to mimic her life in many ways.

Dieter Bravo is a character from the comedy film The Bubble, and is played by Pedro Pascal. The Bubble follows a movie cast as they aim to create a blockbuster action film while quarantining at a hotel. Dieter is an experienced actor that is struggling with addiction and develops a love interest with a front desk worker at the hotel.

Dieter has two different kinds of looks, when he’s in quarantine in the hotel and his costume when he is on set filming the movie. In his room he wears a bathrobe, pajama pants, a t-shirt, and sunglasses. For his costume, he wears a red puffer jacket and black pants.

Anyone But You is a new comedy/romance film directed by Will Gluck, and stars Sydney Sweeney as Bea and alongside her, Glen Powell as Ben. In the film, we follow the two characters as they have a successful first date that quickly turns upside down. They later unexpectedly run into each other at a wedding in Australia and pretend to be the perfect couple together.

Ben’s suit is perfect for summer and can easily be recreated. This look consists of a cream linen blazer, cream linen dress pants, a white button-down shirt, and boat/ deck shoes in a brown color.

Saltburn is a new film by Emerald Fennel that follows Oliver Quick (played by Barry Keoghan) as he stays in his rich classmate Felix’s estate, and a series of horrifying events occur.

Saltburn features an array of eccentric costumes fit for parties. One iconic costume that Oliver wears is this white suit with deer antlers to a Midsummer Night’s Dream themed party. To create this costume wear a printed white blazer or hand paint your own pattern on a solid white blazer with fabric paint. Pair this with white dress pants, a brown belt, green shoes, and of course a headband with deer antlers.

Lizzy is the protagonist in the film Showing Up, and is played by Michelle Williams. Lizzy is an introverted art student and a sculptor who is preparing for her exhibition as she struggles with finding balance with her creative work and everyday struggles, and the unexpected friend she finds in a pigeon she nurses back to health.

Lizzy’s costumes match her personality perfectly and are just like those of an art student. They feature very soft and muted colors, like her look with her canvas apron, blue shirt and khaki skirt. For her exhibition she dresses up more with a brown skirt and printed blouse. If you’re wearing this as a costume, taking a pigeon stuffed animal or prop and carrying it in a box could be a fun addition.
