Aunt May
Maybelle Reilly – better known as Aunt May or May Parker – is Peter Parker’s surrogate mother. Whether she knows about his superhero alterego Spider-Man or not, she worries about her boy. And she knows better than anyone the toll a good deed can take. But just like she taught Peter, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do the right thing.
Aunt May has had a lot of looks over the year (and that’s without the MCU’s fashion-forward take on Aunt May). For this write-up we’re going for something in between the classic “granny” look from the original comics and the more updated look she has today.
For this iteration of Aunt May you’ll want a short white wig, long purple cardigan, a dusky pink knee-length skirt, and a yellow undershirt. Finish off the look with purple flats and pearl earrings and you’re set!
Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)
Jessica Drew may seem like just another member of the Spider family. But she is the original Spider-Woman, the mother of Gerry Drew (the future Spider-Boy, Spider-Man, and ‘The Spider’). But she wasn’t always a hero. Far from it, Drew began her career with Hydra. She was their assassin until she saw the error of her ways and eventually defected to join SWORD, SHIELD, and the Avengers.
Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman has had several looks over the years. Arguably one of her most iconic is this one: a red and yellow bodysuit, yellow boots, yellow gloves, and her dark hair worn long and loose. It might not be the most tactical look she’s had but it’s certainly one of the most glamorous!
Morbius
Morbius the Living Vampire is a villain in the Marvel comics, specifically the antagonist of Spider-Man. Once known as Dr. Michael Morbius, he obtained vampiric abilities after a biochemical experiment went wrong. It was supposed to cure his rare blood disease, but instead it turned him into a psuedo-vampire with a craving for human blood. His other abilities include flight, hypnosis, and accelerated healing. Jared Leto is slated to play the role in his upcoming live-action movie. Sew or glue on the red ribbon to create the trim on the neckline. Use a pair of scissors to cut down the center of the bodysuit as well as to create the pointed edges of the cape.
Mysterio from Spider-Man: Far From Home
Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, is the main antagonist in the live action Marvel movie, Spider-Man: Far From Home. His power involves creating elaborate illusions that frame him as an admirable superhero. His goal is to obtain E.D.I.T.H, the artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark, to increase the scale of his illusions. He accomplishes this by tricking Peter Parker, preying on his grief to earn his trust. In the mid-credits scene, as Mysterio is dying, he reveals Spider-Man’s identity to the world. Use the silver spray paint on the globe to make his helmet.
Max Dillon from The Amazing Spider-Man II
Mild-mannered electrical engineer Max Dillon (Jamie Foxx) lived an uneventful life until one day, when he was rescued by his hero, Spider-Man. That was shocking enough, but then he fell prey to a freak accident at Oscorp Industries, which turned him into pure electrical energy! He became Electro, a pawn of Harry Osborn, who mobilizes Dillon’s starvation for attention against the city.
Gwenpool
Gwenpool, full name Gwendolyn Poole, is Marvel’s amalgam of Gwen Stacy and Deadpool. She made her debut on a variant cover of Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars #2 and has since starred in her own series, The Unbelievable Gwenpool.
Spider-Man Stealth Suit
In the MCU film Spider-Man: Far From Home, Spider-Man (Tom Holland) debuts a new suit known as the Stealth Suit. It is also referred to as the “Night Monkey” suit after a bad lie by Peter Parker to cover up his identity. This suit is meant to disguise Spider-Man being in Europe at the same time as Peter.
Kingpin from Into the Spider-Verse
In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the Kingpin (voiced by Liev Schreiber) is the street name of Wilson Fisk, a crime lord and arch-nemesis of Spider-Man. He is immense in stature, both figuratively and physically, and seems to be made up of pure muscle. For this costume, trawl your local thrift store for the absolute largest black suit and skinniest black necktie that you can find.
Peni Parker from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Peni Parker is a Japanese-American student who pilots a mech suit called SP//dr through a psychic link with a radioactive spider. For this costume, you’ll have to be a bit crafty, attached the pink ribbon along the v-neck of the sweater. Add a cat face and yellow cat ears to your backpack for extra credit points.
Spider-Man Noir from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
In Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man Noir (voiced by Nicolas Cage) is a dark, monochromatic version of Peter Parker from a 1930s universe. He teams up with multiple Spider-Men from alternate dimensions including Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Gwen to save New York City from the Kingpin.
