Prince Phillip
Prince Phillip is a character in the 1959 animated Disney classic, Sleeping Beauty. He is based on the prince from the original fairytale. He encounters Princess Aurora, under the alias of Briar Rose, in the forest and dances with her to “Once Upon a Dream.” When the princess is put to sleep by Maleficent‘s curse, Prince Phillip finds her and kisses her. Because he is her true love, she awakens and the curse is broken, so everyone lives happily ever after.
Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty
In the 1959 Disney classic Sleeping Beauty, Princess Aurora, also known as Briar Rose, is the only daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. An evil fairy named Maleficent curses the princess as a baby, to die on her 16th birthday by pricking her finger on a spinning wheel’s spindle. When the curse is carried out, three good fairies place a protective place a protective curse on Aurora that puts her in a deep slumber. Briar Rose
In Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, the newborn Princess Aurora is cursed by Maleficent, causing the King to fear for her safety and hide her away in a woodcutter’s cottage until her sixteenth birthday. She assumes the identity of Briar Rose, growing up into a beautiful woman with a beautiful singing voice.
