Carbon Costume Cosplay at Katsucon 2025
Valentine’s Day wasn’t the only special occasion during the weekend of Feb 14 to Feb 16 – Katsucon celebrated its 30th anniversary! And this year was perhaps its biggest event to date.
The diversity of cosplay at Katsucon is always a welcome surprise. The most popular fandoms included Pokemon, Sonic the Hedgehog, Delicious in Dungeon, Hatsune Miku, Marvel Rivals, and Wicked. There was notably lots of horror cosplay as well, from Ghostface to Resident Evil. The biggest events were the ribbon swap, the Valentine’s swap, and the nighttime drag show.
Carbon Costume noted the most creative, unique, and meme-able cosplays of the weekend. If you recognize someone, tag them!

Sonic the Hedgehog was byfar the most popular fandom for cosplay at Katsucon this year, such as with these Sonic and Shadow cosplays.
A group of astronauts and Pikmin gathered on the gazebo floor.
They call him the Daywalker. A great Blade cosplay spotted in the evening of the convention.
This Ash Williams cosplay has us saying “groovy!”

This Angewomon cosplay (@patriciakashek) looks like it came straight of the video game!
We’re with these Captain America (@willcharmingcosplay) and Winter Soldier (@yukijadensurvives) cosplayers til the end of the line.
It only made sense that we found this life-size Gengar cosplay out during the evening of the con.
Mouthwashing was another popular video game to cosplay, namely its main character, Anya.

Since Katsucon occurs on Valentine’s Day weekend, some attendees theme their cosplays to the holiday, such as this pink Pyramid Head.

Cosplay Couture/Met Gala
The Cosplay Couture Gala is a special meetup coordinated and hosted by Cowbutt Crunchies Cosplay. This large-scale meetup celebrates a harmony of high-fashion, creativity, inventiveness, and craftsmanship. There is a half hour runway segment, followed by a half hour mixer. 2025’s theme was “Mystery and Macabre.”
