Ms. Tarantula from The Bad Guys

Ms. Tarantula (voiced by Awkwafina) is a hacker who teams up with Mr. Wolf and the rest of his crew in The Bad Guys.  Ms. Tarantula is a spider with orange and darker, purple-ish colors along her body.  To make your own Ms. Tarantula costume, start with an orange bodysuit and wig.  You can add purple temporary hair color to the tips of the wig to get closer to her coloring from the movie.  Lastly, you’ll need a pullover hoodie and a pair of headphones.  Finding an exact match for her sweatshirt is tough, so you can either go with a hoodie that has similar colors, or make your own by purchasing a plain black pullover and adding the arm stripes and square 8-bit details to the front yourself with fabric paint.  For your legs, don a spider backpack in similar colors to match the rest of your costume.

Kel from Omori

Kel is Hero‘s younger brother in the indie RPG OMORI.  Competitive by nature, Kel can sometimes seem a little bratty.  He and Aubrey often bicker over small things, but he cares about her and his other friends deeply.  In the real world, Kel has brown hair and is very into sports.  You can add the design found on the front of his orange jersey with some white fabric paint, then add a pair of basketball shorts and sneakers, both in orange and white, to complete the look.  Kel’s dreamy outfit in HEADSPACE is a little more difficult to replicate because the multicolored checkered tank top is unique.  If you can’t find an exact match, look for tank tops with a soft ombre or pastel colors instead.  Pair it with a purple wig, dark shorts, and a beach ball to finish your costume.

Kyoya Ootori from Ouran High School Host Club

Kyoya (voiced in Japanese by Masaya Matsukaze and in English by J. Michael Tatum) is one of the secondary main characters in the anime/manga Ouran High School Host Club.

He is the vice president of the aforementioned host club, that he runs with Tamaki Suoh, his best friend. Kyoya is in charge of the finances and keeping the club running, while Tamaki is more showy and in charge of the visual appeal.

Kyoya has short black hair and greyish brown eyes. He has a pair of silvery oval framed glasses, and then wears a white button up, a black tie with purple lined details, the periwinkle Ouran school jacket, black slacks, and black formal shoes.

Johnny Cade from The Outsiders

Johnny Cade (played by Ralph Macchio) is a member of the greaser gang at the heart of The Outsiders.  Johnny is close with Ponyboy, the main character of the film and the narrator of the book upon which it is based.  They are the two youngest members of the gang.  Johnny has a slight build and dark hair, which he styles to fall over one side of his face.  Johnny has a scar on his left cheek from an altercation with the Socs.  To create your costume, you’ll need blue jeans, black and white sneakers, and a black wig.  Use a denim jacket to complete the look.  To replicate Johnny’s scar, you can use a wax scar kit and some foundation that matches your skin tone.  Lastly, Johnny begins carrying a switchblade after he’s attacked by the Socs, and a trick knife can play the part for you.

Okuyasu Nijimura

Okuyasu Nijimura is a main character in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. He appears in part four, titled Diamond is Unbreakable. Initially, Okuyasu is an antagonist alongside his brother, Keicho. But soon after, he befriends and joins Josuke and Koichi to defeat evil Stand users. His Stand is called The Hand” wielding the ability to erase space. It’s a powerful stand, though his slow wit weakens its potential. And similarly, Okuyasu serves as the comic relief of part four with his impulsive and excitable personality. Use the white letter stickers to spell out “BILLION” down the sleeve, and use the gold fabric paint marker to make the yen and dollar signs on the collar.

Rio Morales from Across the Spider-Verse

Rio Morales (voiced by Luna Lauren Velez) is the mother of Miles Morales in the animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.  Rio works as a nurse and often plays the role of mediator between her husband Jefferson and their son.  Rio has curly brown hair that she prefers to wear in a loose side ponytail.  She also favors wearing gold hoop earrings, which can be seen in several of her outfits in the film.  When working, Rio wears a white long-sleeved shirt under a scrub shirt with burgundy scrub pants and white shoes.  She also wears a red flutter sleeve blouse, wide leg pants, and red wedge shoes that tie around her ankle.  At another point, she dons a green floral print shirt with a blue jacket.

Rosie from Everything’s Rosie

Rosie is the titular character of the animated children’s TV series, Everything’s Rosie. She is a ragdoll-esque child who goes on adventures with woodland animals. Viewers learn simple lessons with various stories in her colorful world. The headpiece requires some DIY with the materials featured here. Use tape or glue to secure strips of colorful ribbons to the headband, and place a large teal button in the middle. Complete the top by sewing two pink buttons vertically on the white t-shirt.

Vanessa from The Little Mermaid (2023)

Vanessa is an antagonist in 2023 live action remake of The Little Mermaid. She appears a beautiful, young woman but she is really Ursula, the sea witch, in disguise. With the gold shell necklace, she uses Ariel’s siren song to hypnotize Prince Eric. She is portrayed by Jessica Alexander.

Nadia from Russian Doll

Nadia from the Netflix dark comedy-drama series Russian Doll is played by the iconic Natasha Lyonne, who also created the show. Nadia is the stylish protagonist of the series where we follow her living the same day, her birthday, over and over. Her strong/tough personality reflects in her wardrobe. She is a true New Yorker and therefore wears lots of black and grey. Her outfit almost always consists of a silk blouse and a wool coat. She always wears a gold necklace and plays with layering. She is serious in her clothing but always hilariously dismissive towards the world in the show. You can never go wrong with Natasha Lyonne!

Hero is a childhood friend of Mari in the indie game OMORI.  Hero and Mari often take it upon themselves to take care of their group of friends, which includes Mari’s younger brother Sunny, Basil, Hero’s younger brother Kel, and Aubrey, because they are the eldest of the group.  Hero enjoys cooking, cleaning, and baking.  In the real world, Hero has brown hair and wears a blue sweater, light grey jeans, and blue sneakers.  In Sunny’s dream world, his hair is a deep purple-blue and he wears blue-striped pajamas.
