Professor Turo from Pokémon Violet

Professor Turo is the husband of Professor Sada and the main antagonist of Pokémon Violet.  He is the primary professor at Uva Academy.  Unlike his wife, Professor Turo’s outfit is very futuristic-looking, which can cause a little bit of a challenge when recreating the costume, but also offers some chances to get creative.  Most importantly, Professor Turo wears a white lab coat with blue square buttons.  You can purchase a regular lab coat and add new buttons to it if you’re up for a little DIY.  His bodysuit is another story and you can achieve a similar appearance in a few different ways.  A wetsuit in similar colors will give you a very close match, but a set of compression wear may be the more comfortable choice.  Lastly, a pair of slip-on shoes and a beard complete the look.

Duncan Idaho from Dune

Duncan Idaho (played by Jason Momoa) is a swordmaster in the service of House Atreides.  In Dune, Duncan helps train Paul Atreides before his death.  In the 2021 film, Duncan has long wavy hair and a muscular build.  He often wears a stillsuit after moving to Arrakis in the service of Duke Leto.  To make your own stillsuit, you may need to get a little creative, as padded pieces that look the part are often the wrong color.  Don’t be afraid to experiment with a little spray paint to get the look you want.  Duncan also wears more casual clothing when training Paul, and any costume will be enhanced with a short, straight sword to help look the part.

Hatsuharu Sohma from Fruits Basket

Haru (voiced in Japanese by Makoto Furukawa and in English by Justin Cook) is one of the members of the Sohma family in the anime/manga Fruits Basket).

He is the Ox in the zodiac, and has two sides to his personality, a dark and light mode, essentially. One is a lot more calm, and the other is ready to fight at any moment. Out of the rest of the zodiacs, he cares the most about Rin and Yuki, to varying degrees of love for each.

Haru has split toned hair, naturally occurring, with the under layer being black and the top a shaggy white, and his eyes are a soft golden-brown, almost orange, color. We see this outfit when he’s out biking, it’s a bit more covered than some of his others. It consists of his usual piercings, a metal feather necklace, a black turtleneck, black pants, black biking boots, thigh straps, a greyish belt, and an off-white coat with a black fluff collar (I could only find white collared ones, but I included links so you can mod it how you like).

Rei Suwa from Buddy Daddies

Rei (voiced in Japanese by Koki Uchiyama and in English by David Matranga) is one of the main characters in the anime Buddy Daddies.

He works as an assassin with his partner Kazuki, but spends most of the rest of his time playing video games and learning how to look after their recently acquired daughter, Miri.

Rei has shaggy black hair, usually worn in a high ponytail with shaved sides when he’s on a job and down when he’s home, and his eyes are a deep almost black grey. He dresses in a less layered way than Kazuki, with a black t-shirt, a blue biker jacket, black-blue jeans, and black boots.

dabi from bnha

Dabi from My Hero Academia

Dabi (voiced by Hiro Shimono and Jason Liebrecht) is a member of the League of Villains in the anime and manga series My Hero Academia.  Dabi’s Quirk allows him to wield blue flames.  His intense dislike for Pro Heroes and tendency toward destruction make him a powerful foe.  There are plenty of Dabi costume sets available for purchase if you’re looking for an easy way to recreate his look.  Depending on which point in the story you prefer, you may need to add either a white or black wig and boots.  You can also DIY his costume with a black frock coat, scoop neck t-shirt, black pants, and a silver belt.  For the burnt remnants of his skin, use purple body paint to cover large portions of your face, neck, and arms.  Then use a black body crayon to create the illusion of folds and wrinkles.  Lastly, use a small brush and metallic silver body paint to add the staples.

rm renfield from renfield

R.M. Renfield from Renfield

R.M. Renfield (played by Nicholas Hoult) is the displeased associate of Count Dracula in the horror comedy Renfield.  Doomed to a life of servitude to the undead Count, Renfield has had enough and seeks to leave the vampire’s service.  Renfield wears a number of outfits throughout the film, including a dark green suit and a snazzy mauve sweater that eventually ends up spattered in blood.  Unfortunately, the vintage Ralph Lauren colorblock sweater he wears to his support group will set you back a couple of hundred dollars secondhand, so don’t be afraid to find a similar multicolored piece in muted tones.

Weird Al in “Party in the CIA”

It’s a party in the…CIA? Weird Al parodies “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus in this music video. His animated counterpart dons a black suit with a red tie, watch, and sunglasses. Currently, the song has 16 million streams on Spotify and the official music video has 38 million views on Youtube.

Shiki Tademaru From Kemono Jihen

Shiki Tademaru (voiced in Japanese by Natsuki Hanae and in English by A.J. Beckles) is one of the main characters in the anime/manga Kemono Jihen.

He is one of the employees of the supernatural agency that Inugami runs, and is also half-human, like Kabane. Shiki is part spider Kemono and has the ability to use spiderwebs.

He has short spikey greyish pink hair, pinkish-purple eyes, and his outfit is mildly spider themed to go with his powers. Shiki wears a grey t-shirt underneath his jacket, which is a muted magenta color decorated with a spider web, with black and white detailing along the sleeves and hems, grey pants, and black shoes with magenta soles.

death from puss in boots the last wish

Death from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

Death (voiced by Wagner Moura) is the main antagonist of the Dreamworks feature film Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.  Also known as the Wolf, Death is intent on killing Puss as punishment for wasting so many of his nine lives.  Death appears as a white wolf in a black cloak with a sickle in each hand.  To recreate his appearance from the film, you can choose either an easier-to-wear half-mask or a bulkier full-headed mask that looks closer to the original.  Pair your mask with furry gloves and slippers, and a black bodysuit as your base.  Then, throw a hooded cloak over top.  Don’t forget you’ll want two sickles to complete the look.

Snake from Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus

Snake (voiced in Japanese by Takuma Terashima and in English by Spike Spencer) is one of the secondary main characters in the anime/manga Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler.

Originally one of the first-string members of the Noah’s Ark Circus with an act to match his name, Snake eventually ended up coming to work at the Phantomhive manor, after the horrific end of all of his friends. In current storyline, he is on a mission with Finny, at Ciel’s order.

He has pale grey hair, matching eyelashes/eyebrows, golden snake-like eyes, and scaled skin. Snake carries around several of his own snakes because he can speak with them coherently, so he’s never usually seen without one. His outfit is very monochromatic, with the main highlights of his shirt being stand-out thick white stripes, while the rest is black detailed, with black pants, and thigh high lace up black boots.
