Mindy Melendez from Ready Jet Go!

Mindy Melendez (voiced by Jaeda Lily Miller) is the youngest member of the group of friends in Ready Jet Go! A neighbor of Sean and Sydney, despite her young age, Mindy is easily welcomed by the older kids, including alien Jet, even if she’s not quite old enough for space travel at the beginning of the series.  Mindy wears a turtleneck sweater and shorts layered over grey leggings.  If you want to get a little closer to her hat from the show, you can stitch a pair of blue buttons onto your bear beanie.

Yukishiro Honoka from Futari wa Pretty Cure

Yukishiro Honoka (voiced by Stephanie Sheh in the American dub) is one of the two main Cures in the anime series Futari wa Pretty Cure.  Alongside Misumi Nagisa, Honoka gains the power to turn into a Cure, a legendary warrior.  As the White Cure, Honoka wears a white dress with light blue accents and ties her hair half up.  If you choose to dress as Honoka at school, the process will be relatively simple.  However, to recreate her White Cure costume, you’ll need to roll up your sleeves for a little creativity.  First, you’ll want to layer a short white dress over a light blue petticoat.  Then, you’ll don white arm and leg warmers.  To add the blue details of her costume, you can use iron-on heart-shaped patches on the arm and leg warmers.  Likewise, you can use a hot glue gun to add a heart to your hair bow, as well as add another bow and light blue ruffles to the dress.  You can always adjust the amount of detail you add based on your skill level or commitment to DIY.

Aya Tademaru from Kemono Jihen

Aya (voiced in Japanese by Kaede Hondo and in English by Corina Boettger) is one of the secondary characters in the anime/manga Kemono Jihen.

Revealed in Shiki’s backstory, Aya has complicated ties between the kemono and human world, as she was born to be used as a tool, instead of raised as a proper child. Since reconciling with her brother and mom, Aya has stepped extremely outside of the shell that she used to be and is very loudly her own person now.

She has bubblegum pink hair, tied up in a high ponytail, and purple eyes. Her chosen outfit consists of a burgundy choker collar, a matching tube top, light blue short-shorts with spider webbing at the bottom, an over-sized jacket that matches her hair, with a gold spiderweb on it alluding to her powers, and the look is finished off with black socks and red high-top sneakers.

super lois from all star superman

Super Lois from All-Star Superman

Lois Lane (voiced by Christina Hendricks) takes on some superpowers of her own in the comic and cartoon movie All-Star SupermanSuperman gives Lois, who is usually a journalist without superpowers, a serum that provides her with his abilities for 24 hours.  Super Lois’ costume is very similar to Superman’s, consisting of a blue and yellow leotard with red cape, gloves, and boots.  You can layer a yellow crop top over a blue long-sleeved body suit to get closer to her costume’s design.

wednesday-ravendress-character

Wednesday Addams (Rave’N Dance Dress)

Initially, Wednesday didn’t plan to attend the Rave’N, Nevermore’s version of the school dance. However, when Xavier caught her snooping around his art studio, she had to make an excuse. Both Enid and Thing agree that she needs a new outfit! This vintage dress is perfect for a choreographed dance to The Cramps. While this dress is one of a kind, you can embrace the style with ruffles and tulle — all black, of course.

birdie jay from glass onion

Birdie Jay from Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

Birdie Jay (played by Kate Hudson) is a former model in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.  Birdie isn’t the brightest of her friend group, which includes politician Claire Debella and scientist Lionel Toussaint, but she’s more than excited to abscond from quarantine life to a private Greek island for a murder mystery weekend at the bequest of Miles Bron.  Her stunning metallic rainbow gown worn at dinner is custom-made for the movie, and the nearest couture inspiration is nearly impossible to track down, so don’t be afraid to stray from the film to find a fittingly colorful floor-length multicolor dress, paired with colorful eye makeup.  Birdie also wears a breezy jumpsuit with an oversized hat on the boat ride to the island, if you’re feeling a little more boho than black tie.

Bibi

Bibi is a supporting character in Poko, a children’s stop-motion television series. She is a young girl who appears in the second season. She is Poko’s friend and occasionally visits him for play dates. Like Poko, Bibi has a magic ability. Her magic sticker book can turn the sticker of an object into that real object.

Rem from Death Note: The Musical

Rem is a character that’s found in the anime/manga Death Note, and for this version the focus will be on the live action stage adaptation of the series, where she’s portrayed as a lot more human-like in appearance than her regular shinigami (death god) form. For this specific design I’ve gone with what I believe is Megumi Hamada’s portrayal of her, as there are variations of the character between each version of the musical.

Rem is the shinigami that Misa Amane has ties to, by way of her Death Note, and throughout the series came to care very deeply for her, despite the fact that Misa was human. This comes out even more strongly through the musical soundtrack, with much more love showing through how she sings about and with her.

In this particular version, Rem has pale, pearlescent skin with grey and blue highlighting tones, blue makeup, and long silver-white hair with blue strands trailed throughout it. The outfit she wears is a long, torn and draped robe/dress-like piece with a cloak over top, simple white pants underneath, and white shoes. One standout piece of this design that ties in nicely to the original shinigami form that she has is the extra-long fingernails, mimicking her long pointed fingers.
