Evelyn Abbott from A Quiet Place
Evelyn Abbott (played by Emily Blunt) is the wife of Lee and mother to Regan, Marcus, and Beau in the movie A Quiet Place. During the course of the film, Evelyn also gives birth to a new baby while attempting to remain silent so as not to provoke the extraterrestrial creatures who have devastated Earth. Evelyn wears a long, flowing dress that fits comfortably over her baby belly, and a cozy sweater to stay warm. Finding the exact dress would be difficult, so choose a maxi dress with a similar pattern or color scheme to layer with a white tank top and beige cable knit cardigan.
Lee Abbott from A Quiet Place
Lee Abbott (played by actor/director John Krasinski) is the father of Regan and Marcus, and the husband of Evelyn in A Quiet Place. A utilitarian survivalist who was an engineer before the arrival of the extraterrestrial creatures responsible for the decimation of Earth’s population, Lee’s sole purpose is trying to keep his growing family safe. Lee’s most memorable outfit includes a cozy dark red sweater, and beige pants. Don’t forget to pair your survivalist gear with a rugged beard to match.
The Demogorgon from Dead by Daylight and Stranger Things
In the Netflix show Stranger Things, the Demogorgon is a faceless monster of the Upside Down that forces its way into Hawkins, Indiana, killing Barbara Holland, and hunting Will Byers. The Demogorgon is eventually killed by Eleven. In the game Dead by Daylight, the Demogorgon debuted in Chapter XIII: Stranger Things and is shown wrapped in chains. It is also the first entirely non-human killer of the game. While finding a Demogorgon costume is certainly not difficult, you may want to take some liberties to dirty up the costume and add liberal amounts of blood to achieve the desired look.
The Wraith from Dead by Daylight
The Wraith, whose real name is Philip Ojomo, is one of the original trio of killers introduced in the video game Dead by Daylight. Ojomo was an immigrant fleeing conflict in his homeland of Nigeria who had the misfortune of working at a mob-owned junkyard. Eventually, Ojomo realized the cars he was being asked to crush had people inside and he had been used as a pawn to dispose of their bodies. Horrified, Ojomo put his boss in the crusher and killed him. He then pulled his boss’ head and spine from his body, which became the weapon known as Azarov’s Skull, now used by the Wraith as his primary weapon. If you’re willing to shell out some big bucks, you can find replicas of this weapon for your costume. Otherwise, it may take a little creativity, but with a little patience, you can create a lookalike yourself by disassembling a plastic skeleton and gluing a fake blade into the skull portion. Likewise, you could purchase a pre-made mask or DIY one with a twisted-looking tree mask and some skill with a paintbrush.
Shiloh from Repo! The Genetic Opera
Shiloh Wallace (played by Alexa Vega) is the 17, almost 18-year-old daughter of Nathan Wallace in Repo! The Genetic Opera. Her father tells her she has a rare blood condition and, for this reason, she has been shut away most of her life. But after 18 years of confinement, she is hitting her rebellious streak and wants to be set free. She’s sly enough to sneak out of the house but naive about the world as she discovers what lays beyond the gates of her home. Like most of the world, she dresses in a Goth fashion. Her cameo necklace is unique, however, in that it represents her mother who died when Shiloh was born. She wears the cameo in some form throughout all her outfits, usually as a choker.
Charlie Graham from Hereditary
Charlie Graham (played by Milly Shapiro) is the sister of Peter and the daughter of Annie in Ari Aster’s horror film Hereditary. Charlie is a strange young girl with an affinity for preserving the heads of dead birds. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that her penchant for the weird and macabre is related to a far more sinister destiny. Charlie’s outfit consists primarily of a large, oversized orange sweatshirt, and you can certainly get creative with any props you include as part of your costume.
Joel Jones from Scream 2
Joel Jones is a main character in Scream 2. He becomes Gale Weathers’ new cameraman after Kenny’s murder. His sensibility and intuition allows him to realize something is wrong in Woodsboro. Because of this, he remains alive at the end of the film (although he was supposed to be a victim in the original script). You can make his Woodsboro news ID with a piece of paper and insert it into the badge cover. The plastic camera is included as a prop, but you can use an old or broken video camera if you have one.
Annie Graham from Hereditary
In Ari Aster’s Hereditary, Annie Graham (played by Toni Collette) is the mother of Peter and Charlie. Annie has a history of mental health issues and a troubled past with her own mother, who is recently deceased. Following another death, Annie spirals into depression and fits of rage as dark secrets about her family are revealed. Annie’s clothing is breezy and loose fitting, with lots of layers and linen fabrics.
Graverobber from Repo! The Genetic Opera
Graverobber (Terrance Zdunich) is the resident Zydrate peddler and smirking narrator of Repo! The Genetic Opera. The world he lives in is a rough one, so the V in the neck of his overshirt will have to be cut a little lower. And he wears a thin blue scarf around his neck made from the torn hem of his undershirt. He also has pale skin and long hair streaked with a few different colors. He usually has Zydrate on him, but those little blue vials are awfully hard to come by.
Grace (the Bride) from Ready or Not
In Ready or Not, Grace (Samara Weaving) must survive a deadly game of hide and seek with her affluent in-laws on her wedding night. While her husband’s family may think her easy prey, Grace must summon all of her strength and courage in order to survive. Grace’s delicate bridal look gets a makeover with more practical shoes, a torn off hemline for easy running, and a powerful weapon to help her fight back.
