Razputin “Raz” Aquato from Psychonauts

Razputin “Raz” Aquato (voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz) is a 10-year-old psychic and the main character of the Psychonauts game series.  In addition to his psychic abilities, Raz comes from a family of acrobats and is a natural performer.  Though his costume changes slightly in each game, he typically wears a leather circus cap and red aviator goggles with brown gloves and a green turtleneck.  His bag proudly displays his merit badges.

Jevil from Deltarune

Jevil is a portly imp and an antagonist in the game Deltarune.  In chapter 1 of the game, Jevil serves at the first bonus boss.  He is a Darkner and one of the holders of the Shadow Crystal.  Jevil has grey skin and wears a black and purple jester’s costume with a lime green collar and matching shoes.  With a purple tail and yellow teeth, he’s a truly peculiar-looking character.

Larry Johnson from Sally Face

Larry Johnson is a character in the indie horror video game Sally Face. He is Sal’s best friend, and later on, he becomes his stepbrother. Larry is generally laid back, but he’s shown to be protective of his friends. His clothes remain the same as a teenager and as an adult, yet are tattered as a young ghost. Use the black eye pencil to line under your eyes and draw the mole on your left cheek.

Lord Malak from Dark Deception

Lord Malak from Dark Deception

Do you like mazes? Do you like horror games? If you answered yes to both questions, then “Dark Deception” is for you. Players must navigate a maze of nightmarish horrors, all orchestrated by the vile Lord Malak. If players can collect enough Soul Shards, they are allowed to return to the world of the living. Lord Malak won’t make it easy, though. It’s his game, his maze, and his monsters. And he’d rather the player stay right where they are.

Lord Malak’s costume is fairly simple, though it does require some body paint. Red body paint gives you his demonic pallor while horns on a headband rounds out the look. Black gloves match a black suit, black shirt, black shoes, and a black button down shirt while a dark red tie stands out as his one accessory.

Zardy from Zardys Maze

Zardy from Zardy’s Maze

Zardy might be hard to avoid in his maze, but out there on Halloween night, nobody is going to want to run from this cosplay. Or if they do, at least they’ll be running for the right reasons.

Zardy is a little inhuman, but copying his look is possible. A black witch’s hat and a pumpkin mask start things off on the right track, though you can opt for face paint if the mask will be too warm. A shoulder cowl, a pair of scissors – to cut off the hood and create the V at the bottom – , some fabric glue, and orange fabric paint creates the iconic top detailing. It’s a bit of a DIY project but it layers easily over a versatile black long-sleeve pullover sweatshirt. Finish off with a pair of jeans, some shoe covers in the style of brown boots, and a farming hoe. If you don’t want to carry an actual farming tool around, you can use a costume scythe instead.

D-9341 from SCP

D-9341 from SCP Containment Breach

D-9341, eventually identified as Benjamin Oliver Walker, is the main protagonist of the horror video game SCP: Containment Breach.  D-9341 is currently classified as disposable personnel at the SCP Foundation.  When entities like SCP 1471-A, SCP-049, and SCP-035 begin breaking out of the Foundation’s containment protocols, D-9341 must do everything he can to survive the horrors housed within and make it out alive.  D-9341 wears a standard orange-colored inmate uniform with the SCP Foundation’s insignia on the left breast and has access to a clipboard with information on some of the Foundation’s housed monsters.

SCP-035 from SCP

SCP-035 from SCP Containment Protocol

SCP-035 is an extremely dangerous object and part of the SCP Foundation’s collection in SCP: Containment Protocol. Also known as Possessive Mask, SCP-035 escapes containment along with countless other dangerous entities like SCP-1471-A and SCP-049.  SCP-035 can possess anyone who wears it, which will result in their bodies decaying at an extremely fast rate.  The Possessive Mask is one of the many horrors D-9341 encounters during the course of the game.  To recreate the look of SCP-035, use black acrylic paint on a white comedy mask to create the long, black tear tracks that ooze from it, as well as to dirty a white shirt.  Black body paint can add an additional detail by using it on your hands and arms.

milkman karlson

Milkman Karlson

In the eponymous video game created by YouTuber Dani, Milkman Karlson must make his way to the store to buy milk.  However, this is no ordinary milk run, with enemies appearing in his path to slow him down.  Milkman Karlson must use his weapons to dispatch of these enemies and he can earn money by not only killing his enemies, but by doing “epic” tricks and flips.  To dress as Milkman Karlson, you’ll need a black shirt, yellow pants, and blue overshirt.  For a little extra pizzazz, you can also opt for a pair of googly eye glasses and bright green socks to pull it all together.

remilia scarlet from touhou project

Remilia Scarlet from Touhou Project

Remilia Scarlet is the owner of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, and is the primary antagonist of the sixth version of the Touhou Project game.  The elder sister of Flandre Scarlet, Remilia has kept her sister imprisoned in the basement of her mansion for nearly 500 years.  Remilia is a fearsome evil-doer with vast magical abilities.  Her only weakness may be that her long lifetime has left her bored by most things, and she will allow herself to be manipulated if it means something more exciting than the alternative.

Shovel Knight from Shovel Knight

Shovel Knight

Shovel Knight might not be the tallest fighter on the field. But if his enemies underestimate him, that’s their problem. Literally. Armed with his trusty shovel blade and guided by the code of Shovelry he is almost always the last one standing when the battle is over.

Taking on the Shovel Knight’s helm requires a little bit of DIY. You’ll need to get a set of costume armor, some spray paint, painter’s tape, super glue, and large fake horns.

Paint the armor blue then – when it’s fully cured – use the painter’s tape and whatever newspaper you have lying around to cover up the majority of the armor. Then use the yellow spray paint to put on the edging details. That includes a ring of yellow around the seal where you have glued the horns to your helmet after removing them from their original helmet.

Finally grab a trust shovel and head to battle! An actual shovel may violate the rules of some cons, however. In those cases you can follow a tutorial like this one to make one that is safe to take into the venue.
