netflix
Chrissy Cunningham
Chrissy Cunningham (Grace Van Dien) is a character in the Netflix original hit series, Stranger Things. She appears in the first installment of the fourth season. On the outside, Chrissy is your typical cheerleader: popular, preppy, girly. But she struggles on the inside, particularly with body image and verbal abuse from her mother. Vecna uses these insecurities against her, and she becomes its first victim. She gets possessed and murdered while hanging with Eddie Munson, who she had begun to grow close with in an unlikely friendship.
Luke Danes from Gilmore Girls
Luke Danes (played by Scott Patterson) is the surly diner owner of Star Hollow’s favorite coffee spot on the show Gilmore Girls. Luke’s Diner is an important meeting spot for many of the show’s quirky characters, including Lorelei and Rory Gilmore, who function best with a very large cup of coffee in their hands. Eventually, Luke also becomes Lorelei’s primary love interest. Whereas many of the other characters on the show have an array of fashion options available, Luke’s look is more streamlined. Typically, he wears comfortable jeans, a flannel shirt, and a baseball cap turned backward. To really take the look to the next level, use a Luke’s Diner branded cap and be sure to bring a carafe of coffee; your Lorelei will thank you.
Lorelei Gilmore from Gilmore Girls
Lorelei Gilmore (played by Lauren Graham) is one-half of the titular Gilmore Girls on the classic CW show. Mother to Rory, Lorelei comes from a wealthy family but has made her own way in the world after having her daughter as a teen. Lorelei’s style fluctuates throughout the series, but often tends toward the quirkier side. Some of her most iconic looks include the pink coat she often dons, and the “laundry day” look she wore to Rory’s first day at the prestigious Chilton Preparatory School. Lorelei is also rarely without a cup of coffee, especially if she has a chance to take a detour to Luke‘s Diner.
Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls
Rory Gilmore (played by Alexis Bledel) is the intelligent teenage daughter of Lorelei and one-half of the titular Gilmore Girls on the well-known CW show. Rory is studious and headstrong, much like her mother. Throughout the course of the show, Rory wears a wide variety of outfits. You can’t go wrong recreating her Chilton Prep School uniform or any of her other iconic outfits. In the pilot of the series, Rory wore a cozy sweater perfectly suited to her Connecticut hometown. As she grew and attended college, her style matured along with her.
Nick Goode from Fear Street 1978
Nick Goode (played by Ted Sutherland in the 1978 installation) is a counselor at Camp Nightwing. He’s fond of Ziggy Berman. More fond than a counselor should be. That all goes out the window when another camper goes on a rampage and starts targeting kids from Shadyside. Kids like Ziggy. Nick tries to keep her safe, but he’s not as innocent as he may seem.
There are two ways to get Nick Goode’s look. Both looks use a pair of tight jeans, classic sneakers, and a short dark wig. One look pairs all that with a baseball-style shirt in red and white while the other uses a Camp Nightwing counselor’s shirt.
Sydney Novak from I Am Not Okay With This
Sydney “Syd” Novak is the moody teen protagonist of Netflix’s dark comedy series I Am Not Okay With This. Sydney (portrayed by Sophia Lillis of IT) is a timid 17-year-old girl beginning to realize that she has telekinetic powers, all while navigating the complexities of adolescence, family, and loss. Something shocking happens at the homecoming dance, leaving her covered in blood and exiting the school in a daze (Carrie, anyone?). Cure your depression over Netflix cancelling the show by recreating Syd’s homecoming look and dousing yourself in fake blood. Sure, you can pretend it’s the blood of Netflix executives.
Kate Dibiasky from Don’t Look Up
In the Netflix satirical film Don’t Look Up, Jennifer Lawrence portrays Kate Dibiasky, an astronomy Ph.D. student who discovers a massive comet hurtling toward earth. Kate goes on a campaign with Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) to warn humanity of the impending extinction event. Unfortunately for the astronomer duo and for all life on earth, their warning is not taken seriously. Kate spends the entirety of the film freaking out, but definitely looks cool while doing it. The film’s costume designer went for a punk-scientist look, giving Kate a double nostril piercing and red bob with shaved temples and micro-bangs. See the below guide inspired by Kate’s most memorable outfits. I recommend the leopard print if you’re in a *f— it we’re all gonna die* kinda mood. Who knows, maybe Timothée Chalamet will show up and let you make out with him.
John B. from Outer Banks
John Booker Routledge, more often called John B (played by Chase Stokes), is the main protagonist of the Netflix series Outer Banks. John is obsessed with discovering the secrets surrounding his father’s disappearance and is the charismatic leader of the Pogues, a close-knit group of friends from the south side of the Outer Banks. You can certainly find several of John’s exact costume pieces, as long as you’re willing to pay for some of them. But to recreate his vibe, you’ll want to focus on breathable fabrics perfect for a day at the beach.
Katie Mitchell from The Mitchells vs the Machines
Katie Mitchell (voiced by Abbi Jacobson) is the main protagonist of the Sony Pictures Animation film The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Katie is quirky and creative, and a film student in college. Katie wears distressed jeans and shoes embellished with markered details. To have some fun with her look, be sure to add little details to your own clothes (and hands!) like Katie does in the movie.
Ludwig Dieter from Army of Thieves
In Army of the Dead and the prequel Army of Thieves, Ludwig Dieter (played by Matthias Schweighöfer) is a German safecracker who acts nervous but has unmatched skills. He’s hired to recover $200 million in Las Vegas, which at this point is overrun with zombies. Ludwig’s original name is Sebastian Schlencht-Wöhnert, but as a child he drew a comic book about a world-class safecracker named Ludwig Dieter, and eventually adopted the name for himself. Besides the clothing and Casio calculator watch, make sure you style your hair to match his curly golden locks.
