Rita from Jelly Jamm
In Jelly Jamm, Rita (voiced by many performers depending on location but by Tara Strong on Disney Junior) is one of the adventurous children that lives on Jammbo. She is always eager to try new things which sometimes gets her into trouble. Her friends are usually along for the ride which means more adventures for everyone!
Dressing up as Rita is a very pink experience. You will need a pink wig, tights, gloves, and face paint to mimic her pink skin and hair. You might also have to paint your upper arms if you cannot find long enough gloves. If you go for a full face-paint kit you can use the white and black to paint your eyelids so they resemble Rita’s eyes. Her clothing is simple, consisting of dark pink Mary Janes and a matching dress with a white daisy on the chest.
Shota Aizawa from My Hero Academia
Shota Aizawa, also known as Eraser Head, is a character from the hit anime, My Hero Academia. He is the homeroom teacher for Class 1-A. His Quirk is called Erasure, in which he can erase the Quirk of his opponent by simply looking at them. Other strengths include hand to hand combat, as well as astute observation and intellect. Quiet and stern, Aizawa is known to set a high bar for his students. This makes him come off as cold and apathetic, especially when he is brutally honest with his thoughts and feelings. For this costume, you can use a stippling sponge or black eyeliner around your mouth to add his stubble.
Canon Human Bill Cipher
On a charity stream, Gravity Falls creator Alex Hirsch sketched his headcanon of human Bill Cipher as a grotesque monster with snake eyes and rotten yellow teeth. This shook the fanbase who long depicted human Bill Cipher in their fan art as a svelte and suave human dressed to the nines.
Oono from Hi Score Girl
Oono Akira is a girl who doesn’t speak much. Despite not speaking much, she has very lively facial expressions. Oono does well in her studies and hobbies, especially gaming. She can be aggressive at times, but it’s mostly towards Haruo. Funnily, Haruo is someone who is good at reading Oono’s expressions, so they are friends. Oono and Haruo geek over games in Hi Score Girl.
Sypha Belnades from Castlevania
Sypha Belnades (played by Alejandra Reynoso in the Castlevania animated series) is a sorceress with control over the elements. Her people, the speakers, are a nomadic tribe of scholars and magicians. Syphas people were wrongly accused of causing Dracula’s mass murders of humans and therefor were mostly in hiding. Sypha herself presented as a young man so she would not be accused of being a witch. She met Trevor Belmont in The Catacombs after being turned back from stone once he killed the cyclops that attacked her. The two start working together shortly after and decide to start on a quest to kill Dracula and defeat his army. Sypha’s Costume requires a good amount of layering. I recommend turning the Teal Mesh Poncho Top inside out and cutting from the bottom along the seam until you reach the top of the shoulder. This will give more visibility to the layers underneath the poncho. Use the bandage wrap over her tank top which should be tucked into her skirt. This is a fun simple DIY costume that will be a great choice for any cosplay event.
Mary Winchester from Supernatural
Mary Winchester (played by Samantha Smith) is the mother of Sam and Dean on the CW’s Supernatural. In the earliest seasons of the show, Mary is shown mostly in flashbacks, as she was murdered by the Yellow Eyed Demon when Sam was a baby. However, she is later resurrected by The Darkness as a favor for Dean. When she was originally killed, Mary wore a white nightgown. As a hunter, she opts for sensible clothing that moves well and a sharp machete or other appropriate weapon.
Warden Wrath from The Owl House
Warden Wrath (voiced by Robert Craig Smith) is the head warden of the Conformitorium. As the name implies it is where “unruly” citizens go so that they may learn to conform to the way Warden Wrath thinks things ought to be. He is not someone you want to cross, after all. He can shapeshift and breathe fire, as well as do tremendous damage with his superior strength.
To get his fearsome look you need foundational garments of black scrub pants tucked into heeled boots and a tight-fitting undershirt with a black hood. Over that goes a white “mad scientist” coat belted around the waist with a black leather belt. Then you put in your plague mask and pull the hood up and you’re good to go!
You can take things a step further by getting long grey gloves to cover your hands and arms, the only exposed skin Warden Wrath has. Grey body paint can also help you get the same effect!
Isaac from Castlevania
Isaac (played by Adetokumboh M’Cormack in the Netflix series Castlevania) is Dracula’s human right-hand man and one of the two devil forge masters in Dracula’s army. Unlike his naive counterpart Hector, Isaac is extremely loyal and passionate about ending humanity. He has seen the dark side of humanity from an early age and although he may technically be a major antagonist in Castlevania, one can not help but feel for Isaac. He is a complex character that has as much willpower to build an army of demons as he has compassion for those who are kind to him. Isaac’s costume takes a bit of layering. You will need to wear the Black Leather Neck Seal underneath the Medieval Black Lace Up V-Neck Long Sleeve. After tucking the long sleeve into the Medieval Trouser Pants you can wrap the Wine Red Sash Belt around your waist. After this, you can go about adding the other accessories. Once everything is on you will be ready for any cosplay event or Halloween party.
Bobby Singer from Supernatural
Supernatural may be coming to a close but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep dressing like your favorite hunter. And Bobby Singer (played by Jim Beaver) is almost always at the top of fans’ Favorite Hunters list. He is the surrogate father that got the boys through more tough times than any two people really ought to have. And the literal end of the world came around – every time it came around – Bobby was there to help stop it.
Cosplaying as Bobby is fairly easy. You just need work boots, jeans, a t-shirt, a plaid flannel, and a trucker cap. The t-shirt should have some sort of graphic on it, likely from any number of small diners or gas stations where Bobby stopped while on a hunt. Things get a little tricky, though, when it comes to the condition of the clothes. On top of being a hunter Bobby is a mechanic. His clothes are work-worn and often oil stained, which will take some doing when you buy the clothes brand new. It’s worth it, though, to pull off the Bobby Singer look!
And of course what hunter would want to go out without their demon hunting knife? Just be sure it complies with the weapons policy of the convention you’re attending and the location it’s in. If it doesn’t opt for salt and demon traps instead!
Garu from Pucca
Garu is the second main character – and main love interest – in the show Pucca. Though if you ask him, a love interest is the last thing he wants to be. Despite the heart on his shirt he is all about following his martial arts practice. And that means dressing like it. He wears tight fitting black clothes and keeps his hair styled in short pigtails. Few wigs are that short, so cosplayers will have to adjust any wig they buy. A little DIY will also be needed to attach the large heart patch to the front of the shirt, but that’s a small price to pay for cosplaying comfort!
