The Plague from Dead by Daylight
Adiris was a young priestess at the Temple of Purgation. When a plague spread across the land and the Holy Men each fell ill, it fell to her to don the robes of her goddess and perform the rites for the disease-stricken masses. Eventually, she fell ill as well, and when she could no longer hide the infection behind crowns and incense censers, she exiled herself and prayed to god for salvation. The Entity of Dead by Daylight answered her prayers and now she serves it as a killer known as the Plague, sacrificing survivors to appease its endless appetite. The Plague is a great costume for someone who wants to take some time and get creative with their use of prosthetics, and the juxtaposition of her beautiful clothing with her disease-ridden body will certainly make for a big visual impact.
The Clown from Dead By Daylight
Kenneth Chase was an athletic young man whose fascination for birds led to him drugging and killing them for their feathers. Once his obsession carried over to humans and after fleeing the police in his hometown, he joined the circus under the alias Jeffrey Hawk, using the cover of a friendly clown to hide his dark nature. This allowed him to kill many victims, keeping a finger from each. The Clown now drugs and sacrifices countless survivors as one of the killers in the game Dead by Daylight. The Clown’s costume can be recreated a few ways, depending on your personal tastes. You can use a latex mask, or recreate his clown makeup by hand, and a colorful clown costume could be made to look dingy, or a more subtly colored one could be substituted in its stead.
The Nurse from Dead by Daylight
Sally Smithson became a nurse at Crotus Prenn Asylum after she was widowed as a newlywed. After decades of abuse at the hands of patients and fellow staff, she strangled them all in one night and vanished. As the ghoulish Nurse, she serves the Entity of Dead by Daylight as a killer, teleporting across the playing field using the last breaths she stole from her victims. The Nurse carries a hacksaw and wears a white dress. Her appearance is made all the more creepy by the white hood she wears over her face. You can purchase a zentai hood or use a white pillowcase for this part of her costume, as either will evoke the same terrifying effect.
Felix Richter from Dead by Daylight
Felix Richter is a visionary architect with a past that is shrouded by the Entity. Descended from members of an ancient society, Felix’s exploration of an old laboratory belonging to The Blight led to his parents’ disappearance and eventually his own. Now, he is trapped in a never ending game of life-and-death in the world of Dead by Daylight.
The Blight for Dead by Daylight
In Dead by Daylight, The Blight (Talbot Grimes) was a Scottish chemist working for the East India Trading Company during the First Opium War. He lived in denial of the human costs of his experiments, until he was taken captive and forced to confront the truth of his unethical actions in the form of a mass grave full of workers who died from his compounds. The revelation combined with his captivity and obsessive drive to experiment eventually drove him into the waiting arms of The Entity of Dead by Daylight.
Claudette Morel from Dead by Daylight
Claudette Morel is a studious botanist turned healer, and one of the original quartet of survivors in the game Dead by Daylight. Formerly an introverted college student, she now uses her natural empathy and botany knowledge to heal herself and the other survivors as they are hunted. Before finding herself lost in the woods and fighting the game’s many killers, Claudette was active and popular on Internet forums and message boards under the screen name Science Girl
Laurie Strode from Dead by Daylight and Halloween
Laurie Strode is the final girl of Halloween (1978) and is arguably the most quintessential form of the archetype. Played by scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, she has been hunted by Michael Myers for over forty years, across more than half a dozen films. She debuted in Dead by Daylight in Chapter II.
The Pig from Dead by Daylight
The Pig is the moniker used by apprentices/successors of Jigsaw. There have been many over the years, though they do not vary much in appearance. The male ones typically don Jigsaw’s red and black robe, while the female ones wear long red leather coats, both of which help deal with the bloody affair that is kidnapping victims and setting up Jigsaw’s games. In the game Dead by Daylight, Amanda Young is a devoted pupil of Jigsaw who assumes the identity of the Pig following her own death. To recreate the Pig’s costume, you’ll need a pig mask with wig and a red leather coat layered over a pair of jeans. You can use a simple red trench coat, or if you want the full length of the costume in the game, you could layer a red moto jacket with a hood over a faux leather skirt that you cut in the middle.
The Demogorgon from Dead by Daylight and Stranger Things
In the Netflix show Stranger Things, the Demogorgon is a faceless monster of the Upside Down that forces its way into Hawkins, Indiana, killing Barbara Holland, and hunting Will Byers. The Demogorgon is eventually killed by Eleven. In the game Dead by Daylight, the Demogorgon debuted in Chapter XIII: Stranger Things and is shown wrapped in chains. It is also the first entirely non-human killer of the game. While finding a Demogorgon costume is certainly not difficult, you may want to take some liberties to dirty up the costume and add liberal amounts of blood to achieve the desired look.
The Wraith from Dead by Daylight
The Wraith, whose real name is Philip Ojomo, is one of the original trio of killers introduced in the video game Dead by Daylight. Ojomo was an immigrant fleeing conflict in his homeland of Nigeria who had the misfortune of working at a mob-owned junkyard. Eventually, Ojomo realized the cars he was being asked to crush had people inside and he had been used as a pawn to dispose of their bodies. Horrified, Ojomo put his boss in the crusher and killed him. He then pulled his boss’ head and spine from his body, which became the weapon known as Azarov’s Skull, now used by the Wraith as his primary weapon. If you’re willing to shell out some big bucks, you can find replicas of this weapon for your costume. Otherwise, it may take a little creativity, but with a little patience, you can create a lookalike yourself by disassembling a plastic skeleton and gluing a fake blade into the skull portion. Likewise, you could purchase a pre-made mask or DIY one with a twisted-looking tree mask and some skill with a paintbrush.
