Fiona the Fox from Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie)

Fiona the Fox is one mean miss! She’s been with a variety of villainous crews and is particularly fond of Scourge the Hedgehog. She does have a few nice bones in her body and can do the right thing. But it all depends on how Fiona will come out in the end.

Fiona’s outfit matches her rough reputation. You can mimic her fox-like look with red ears, a red tail, a red body suit, a red wig, and face paint. Or you can just go with the ears and tail along with the rest of her outfit. The only color in her outfit is an orange hair bow, a nod to her original costume. Otherwise she wears a black crop top, black fingerless gloves, crossed black studded belts, black pants, and black boots. Boots with silver toes are hard to find but you can mimic the look with paint or metallic tape. Just be careful since either alteration is going to be permanent!

She-Hulk

She-Hulk is a superhero from the Marvel comics. By day, she’s Jennifer Walters, a lawyer working in Los Angeles and cousin of Bruce Banner. When he visited Jennifer in town, agents of a crime boss named Nick Trask shot and wounded her. Realizing she was going to die, Bruce volunteered for the blood transfusion and committed her to a hospital. The agents returned to attack, but the sense of danger activated the gamma radiation in the blood. Jennifer transformed into She-Hulk and used her newfound super strength to defeat them. Like Bruce, she can be intelligent as both Jennifer and She-Hulk. She briefly joined the Avengers and replaced The Thing in the Fantastic Four. Use the purple fabric paint to make the stripes on either side of the leotard. You can also use green fabric paint to shade the unitard to emulate her strong muscles.

Banshee from X-Men

Banshee from the X-Men

Banshee – also known as Sean Cassidy – is an Irish mutant with the power of “Sonic Scream”. He first appeared in X-Men #28 (1967) and has made a few appearanes throughout various runs since then. Cassidy is both a former NYPD officer as well as an Interpol agent. When Banshee works with the X-Men he is usually a full decade or more older than the other members of his team and is usually places in a mentor role.

Although the character appears in X-Men: First Class he is best known from his portrayal in the comics. And though the specifics of his costume have changed there are a few things that stay constant. His suit is always green with yellow markings on the chest. You can use fabric paint to get the exact markings you want so that you can choose which costume variation to go with.

His costumes also have yellow boots and yellow gloves as well as wings of some kind that attach under the arms, along the sides, and down the legs. These can be replicated using a large shawl such as the one pictured above. Older variations of Banshee also have him smoking a long-stemmed pipe, though this accessory fell out of use in the ’90s.

X-23 from the X-Men

X-23 from the X-Men Comics

X-23 is a genetic clone of the famous Canadian X-Man Wolverine, successfully created in a lab by scientist Dr. Sarah Kinney after twenty-two failed attempts. Her first-ever appearance in X-Men lore was the X-Men: Evolution TV series, but was welcomed into the comic book universe with the NYX comics, which explained her origin story in a grittier fashion than the children’s cartoon before it. X-23 then entered the Marvel-Fox cinematic universe in the form of a young Mexican child in James Mangold’s Logan, but her teenage/young adult persona from the comics can be just as fun to cosplay.

kitty pryde xmen character

Kitty Pryde

Katherine “Kitty” Pryde, aka Shadowcat, is a member of the X-Men. Her powers include phasing and intangibility, which lets her simulate levitation. In the comics, she joins the Guardians of the Galaxy and actually takes over as Star Lord. In the Marauders series (not related to the Marauders in Harry Potter, but wouldn’t that be a cool crossover!), she’s currently known as Red Queen. The comics also highlight her Jewish heritage. And did you know her companion, a purple dragon named Lockheed, is actually a highly intelligent alien?

barbara minerva cheetah from ww84

Barbara Minerva / Cheetah from Wonder Woman 1984

In the Wonder Woman 1984 movie, Barbara Minerva (played by Kristen Wiig) is an insecure scientist who befriends Diana.  After being exposed to a mystical force, Barbara eventually transforms into Cheetah, arch enemy of Wonder Woman.  Barbara’s look evolves almost as much as the character.  From her frumpy 80s style at the outset of the film, to the sexy animal prints she wears later, there is a lot of room to have fun with the era.  Barbara’s fully evolved Cheetah form looks like a humanoid cat, so some adaptations to a standard leopard or cheetah Halloween costume can make it look more intimidating and better suited to the character.

Breezie the Hedgehog from Sonic the Hedgehog

Breezie the Hedgehog from Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie)

In the Sonic comics, Breezie is a savvy businesswoman. Whether she’s a good guy or a bad guy depends on who you ask and which comic you’re on. But whether she’s good or bad, there’s no denying she’s driven and will go to any lengths to reach her goals!

If you’re going to dress as Breezie then the first thing you need is a red power suit and a matching pair of red pumps. A white button down shirt and ascot round out her clothing while chunky gold bracelets are her only accessories. Finally, teal tights, white gloves, a teal wig, and face paint give you the tools you need to become Breezie the Hedgehog!

Cha Cha from The Umbrella Academy

Cha-Cha from The Umbrella Academy

Cunning and sadistic, Agent Cha-Cha (Mary J. Blige) works for The Handler as a time-traveling assassin, who does her job to prevent cataclysmic ends to the world (or allow them, if it’s for the greater good of the timeline) and likes it. Her current target is the Umbrella Academy’s Number Five. Does it concern her ever so slightly that her partner, Hazel, has gotten distracted and just a little bit softhearted over the friendly proprietor of the local doughnut shop? It is entirely possible.

The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy

I heard a rumor that you want to cosplay The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy using items from Amazon. Oh, you do? Well, you’ve come to the right place! The Rumor, real name Allison Hargreeves is one of seven super-powered siblings from the dysfunctional Umbrella Academy family. Her ability? Making anyone do anything she says, so long as she prefaces her statement with “I heard a rumor….” But can someone as narcissistic and manipulative as The Rumor handle the great power and responsibility that comes with her job?

Allison Hargreaves from Umbrella Academy

Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy

On Netflix’s adaptation of The Umbrella Academy, Emily Raver-Lampman brings The Rumor to life in the form of Allison Hargreeves, an accomplished and stunningly beautiful actress whose onscreen success totally has nothing to do with her superhuman ability to manipulate anyone with her words. “I heard a rumor [that you’re going to do something I want],” is a phrase that has earned Allison many favors in the world, but also some traumatizing drawbacks. Don’t miss Allison’s 1960s yellow dress look from season 2 as well.
