The Pig from Dead by Daylight
The Pig is the moniker used by apprentices/successors of Jigsaw. There have been many over the years, though they do not vary much in appearance. The male ones typically don Jigsaw’s red and black robe, while the female ones wear long red leather coats, both of which help deal with the bloody affair that is kidnapping victims and setting up Jigsaw’s games. In the game Dead by Daylight, Amanda Young is a devoted pupil of Jigsaw who assumes the identity of the Pig following her own death. To recreate the Pig’s costume, you’ll need a pig mask with wig and a red leather coat layered over a pair of jeans. You can use a simple red trench coat, or if you want the full length of the costume in the game, you could layer a red moto jacket with a hood over a faux leather skirt that you cut in the middle.
Chris from Until Dawn
Christopher “Chris” Hartley (voiced and acted by Noah Fleiss) is the resident geek of the Until Dawn group. He’s protective and selfless to a (potentially) fatal degree.
His costume is fairly straightforward though very warm. Basic jeans and sensible boots make up the base. Cosplayers than have to layer a white graphic tee, a blue button up, a green zip-up knit sweater, and a blue winter jacket. The shirt pictured above is not the exact shirt as that shirt does not exist. But if you can get a clear image of the shirt design from the game, many shirt makers may be able to replicate it.
Cosplayers can also add a bruise to the left side of their face if they want to recreate a mid-game look after Chris has survived a few attacks. As long as they keep the layers and the glasses, the costume will still be true to the game!
Wes from Don’t Starve
Wes is one of the hardest characters to play in Don’t Starve. Easily scared and almost always hungry, he’s the challenge character everyone works up to. He also, oddly, has one of the most unique costumes.
Since Wes is a mime the signature of his look is the traditional mime makeup. He also has a striped umbrella and balloons that he carries around with him. His clothes are very simple but one of the few colorful outfits in the game. He wears a red and black striped shirt, black fitted pants, and black heeled boots.
Midna from Zelda
Midna (voiced by Akiko Koumoto) is the former leader of the Twili people. She made her debut on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Nintendo Gamecube and Wii. Though her people are known for wielding great magic she has been stripped of hers and – for most of the franchise – is trapped in her imp form. Both her imp form and her true form make for excellent cosplay costumes!
For her imp form you will want to find a custom cosplay headpiece from Etsy. Worn over a yellow spiked wig it gives you the most iconic part of her appearance. From there face paint and a light blue body suit modified with black fabric paint gives you the rest of her look.
If you want to cosplay her true form you will need a ginger wig that you style in the unique manner Midna prefers to wear it. A black bikini top , black wrap skirt, and black cloak finish off her clothing. You can use body paint to achieve the blue-skinned look of her concept art or you can choose to stick with your natural skin tone if body paint is not appealing!
Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale
Asriel Dreemurr is the son of Toriel, who passed away before the events of Undertale. Although you won’t recognize him in the beginning, a sadistic, soulless version of Asriel — a mere shadow of his cute, docile younger self — is the first character you meet in the game.
Super Mario Brothers from NES
This year marks the 35th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. To mark the occasion, Nintendo is releasing a slew of Mario games, including Super Mario 3D All-Stars and a modern version of its original Game & Watch handheld. Although we’ve provided costume guides for Mario and Luigi already, you’ll notice that their sprites are slightly different compared to their original release, where they wore color-coded overalls and a rust brown shirt instead of the more familiar blue overalls and color-coded undershirts.
Dante from Devil May Cry 3
Dante is a character from the Devil May Cry video game franchise. He is the son of the demon Sparda and human Eva, as well as the younger twin brother of Vergil. Unlike his brother, he embraces his human side more than his demonic side. He works as both a private investigator and paranormal mercenary, devoted to killing evil demons and supernatural forces. He acts as a vigilante, as his motive is to avenge the death of his mother and corruption of his brother. Dante is the main playable character in the games. Place the belt around your waist. If it’s too cold to go shirtless, wear a nude colored top.
Vergil from Devil May Cry 3
Vergil is a character in the Devil May Cry video game franchise. He is the son of the demon Sparda and human Eva, as well as the older twin brother of Dante. In contrast to his brother, Vergil rejects his humanity in favor of his demonic heritage. He is an apathetic and reserved individual, but his ambition gets the best of him, as he will do anything to usurp the power of his father. This leads him down a dark path, hence his role as the main antagonist of the fifth installment. This outfit in particular is from the third installment.
Rosa from Fortnite
Rosa is a skin that players can use in Fortnite. Her design is based on Dia De Los Muertos, or the day of the dead. It’s a wonderful South American holiday meant to honor those who have passed on. So don’t let her skeletal features scare you! Though the player’s prowess in combat probably should!
To dress as Rosa you’ll want to start with a black wig pulled up in a bun with a red rose clipped in. From there you’ll want a purple undershirt. Teal satin can be glued to the shirt to create the neck piece and puff sleeves. A black and purple corset with a green bow gets you very close to her exact look. A black layered skirt and some purple satin allow you to copy the bottom half of Rosa’s outfit, along with a teal ribbon for the bow at the side. Black lace tights and heeled black boots finish off her clothes while ace paint and black nail polish give you the final details of her look.
Emmy Altava from Professor Layton
Before Luke Triton, Professor Hershel Layton had another assistant: Emmy Altava. This ambitious young woman accompanied the puzzle-solving gentleman during the events of prequel games set three years prior to Luke’s adventures with Layton. Although Emmy’s loyalty to the professor was tested during her final appearance in the series, she’s aided him many times with her martial arts prowess and investigative skills.
