When Frank West is first introduced in Dead Rising 1, he is a determined and unpredictable photojournalist always on the lookout for the next big (and likely dangerous) scoop. Once he is thrown into the zombie infected town of Wilamette on assignment, he begins to uncover a sinister government cover up and becomes embroiled in it himself. Frank’s outfit is sensible, making it easy to run and fight his way out of Wilamette when necessary. If you do not already own a high-quality camera like the one Frank uses, a simple phone case made to look like one can lend the same aesthetic.

In the indie adventure game Sally Face, Sal Fisher is a boy with a prosthetic face and mysterious past. In the 2019 Overwatch event Mercy’s Recall Challenge, players can unlock the Dr. Angela Ziegler legendary skin. Compared to the battle armor Mercy wears in her default skin, the Dr. Angela Ziegler skin is a nod to her roots as a medical prodigy who earned her MD and PhD in Switzerland and pioneered the field of applied nanobiology as head of surgery.

In Batman: The Telltale Series and its follow-up Batman: The Enemy Within, Joker starts as a mysterious patient named John Doe at Arkham Asylum. Joker initially admires Batman’s work as a vigilante and allies with him, but eventually associates with a gang of criminals known as The Pact, and becomes the nemesis we all know Joker to be. His two outfits reflect this transformation.

In Pokemon Masters, Red makes his appearance at the Pokemon Masters League tournament on Pasio. Red, who was the main protagonist trainer in the very first three Pokemon games, still has his trusty Charizard by his side, although his outfit has changed slightly, now wearing a black tee, pants with blue flames down the side, and a mysterious black wristband.
