James Cole from 12 Monkeys
In 12 Monkeys, James Cole (played by Bruce Willis) is a prisoner who is offered parole if he can complete a dangerous mission that involves time travel. James is sent back to 1996 from the year 2035 in order to try and stop a plague from plunging the world into chaos and wiping out millions of people. During James’ first trip back in time, he is inadvertently sent to 1990, where he meets animal rights activist Jeffrey Goines. James wears several outfits, depending on which timeline he is in, but one of his most recognizable includes an army green jacket and burgundy zip up sweatshirt.
Albert Henckels from The Grand Budapest Hotel
Albert Henckels (played by Edward Norton) is an inspector tasked with investigating the death of Madame D. in Wes Anderson’s film The Grand Budapest Hotel. Henckels wears his military uniform throughout the film. He also has a long grey fur coat to stave off the bitter cold.
Austin Powers
“Oh behave!” Austin Powers (Mike Myers) is the main hero in his self-titled spy parody movies. He is a 60s era British spy who enjoys cracking jokes and flirting with the ladies. After his arch nemesis, Dr. Evil (Mike Myers) freezes him in a cryonics experiment, he must adjust to life in the 90s. The movies follow his attempt to blend in while also trying to stop Dr. Evil’s malevolent plans. This groovy costume will have everyone saying “yeah baby!”
Charlie Graham from Hereditary
Charlie Graham (played by Milly Shapiro) is the sister of Peter and the daughter of Annie in Ari Aster’s horror film Hereditary. Charlie is a strange young girl with an affinity for preserving the heads of dead birds. However, as the story unfolds, it becomes apparent that her penchant for the weird and macabre is related to a far more sinister destiny. Charlie’s outfit consists primarily of a large, oversized orange sweatshirt, and you can certainly get creative with any props you include as part of your costume.
Berkeley from Zombieland 2
In Zombieland Double Tap, Berkeley (played by Avan Jogian) is a pacifist living in a post-apocalyptic world. When he crosses paths with sisters Wichita and Little Rock, Little Rock is immediately smitten by his handsome looks and unique perspective and they hit the road together. Berkeley wears breezy linen clothing, plenty of wooden beads, and is never seen without his trusty guitar so he can play his “original” tunes.
Joel Jones from Scream 2
Joel Jones is a main character in Scream 2. He becomes Gale Weathers’ new cameraman after Kenny’s murder. His sensibility and intuition allows him to realize something is wrong in Woodsboro. Because of this, he remains alive at the end of the film (although he was supposed to be a victim in the original script). You can make his Woodsboro news ID with a piece of paper and insert it into the badge cover. The plastic camera is included as a prop, but you can use an old or broken video camera if you have one.
Walter Thrombey from Knives Out
Walt Thrombey (played by Michael Shannon) is the youngest of Harlan Thrombey’s children, and is the head of his prolific father’s publishing company, responsible for distributing the mystery writer’s books. Walt and his father argue constantly over selling the rights to Harlan’s work for use on other platforms. Walt’s clothing is relatively plain, relying on a drab color palette. Throughout the film, he uses a cane because his left foot is in a walking boot.
Porco Rosso
In the English version of Porco Rosso, Michael Keaton voices the titular character. A former WWI fighter ace, Marco is cursed and therefore forced to spend his days as an anthropomorphic pig who goes by the name Porco Rosso and makes his living as a bounty hunter who chases air pirates. Porco Rosso’s clothing consists of pretty standard pilot clothing including sunglasses, goggles, and a scarf.
Dmitri from The Grand Budapest Hotel
In Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, Adrien Brody plays Dmitri, the son of the wealthy Madame D. Following her death, he accuses M. Gustave of her murder, setting into motion much of the action of the film. Dmitri wears all black and is a member of the fascist “ZZ,” as indicated by an armband he can be seen wearing.
Deputy Kovacs from The Grand Budapest Hotel
In The Grand Budapest Hotel, Deputy Kovacs (played by Jeff Goldblum) is a lawyer who represents the interests of the hotel and Madame D. He is responsible for reading the will that bestows the Boy with Apple painting to M. Gustave. Deputy Kovacs wears a pinstripe suit and round rimmed glasses.
