Kate Bishop from Hawkeye
Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) is a main character in the new Marvel series, Hawkeye, streaming on Disney+. She is the daughter of Eleanor Bishop. After seeing Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), save New York at age twelve, Kate made it her goal to become a hero too. Ten years later, she’s a prodigy in fencing, martial arts, and of course, archery. When Kate dons the Ronin suit to escape a suspicious auction, Clint finds her and together, they partner up against the tracksuit mafia. However, this endeavor might concern a crime syndicate larger than the pair imagined. Talkative and enthusiastic, Kate hopes to coax Clint out of his shell so he can inspire others as an Avenger.
Wasp
Wasp is a character in the Marvel universe. Her real name is Hope Van Dyne, daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. She has a strained relationship with her father, but when Scott Lang enters the picture, she must help them both. Hope is resourceful about the quantum realm as well as skilled in fighting techniques. These traits allow her to embody Wasp, and she teams up with Scott as Ant-Man in the second film. In addition to shrinking and growing, her abilities include flight and energy blasters. Evangeline Lily portrays this role in both installments.
Ant-Man
Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, is a character in the Marvel universe. Scott Lang starts out as a convict, but he ends up becoming a superhero who must save the world. With the mentoring and technology of Hank Pym, he becomes the new Ant-Man. His abilities include shrinking and growing, as well as communication with ants. Beloved and never-aging actor Paul Rudd portrays this role, bringing a lighthearted sense of humor.
Xialing Wu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Xialing Wu (played by Meng’er Zhang) is the sister of Shang-Chi and the eventual leader of the Ten Rings organization in the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Having trained in secret while her father mentored her brother in martial arts, Xialing is a powerful fighter in her own right and joins her brother and his friend Katy on a journey to China to stop their father from releasing a soul-eating monster known as the Dweller-in-Darkness. Xialing has a short blunt bob haircut and trades in her dark-colored clothing for a pale uniform enhanced with dragon scales from the Great Protector once she reaches the village of Ta Lo.
Katy Chen from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Katy Chen (played by Awkwafina) is the best friend of Shang-Chi from the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Katy does not know of Shang-Chi’s mystical past or martial arts training when the film begins, but when his past is revealed and Shang-Chi must undertake a perilous journey to save the world from a dark fate, Katy does not hesitate to join him and his sister Xialing on their quest. As a valet, Katy wears a white button-down and red vest with a black tie. When she reaches the mystical village of Ta Lo, she receives a weapon and dress made of dragon scales.
Shang-Chi Xu from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang-Chi (played by Simu Liu) is the main character in the Marvel film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. Alongside his friend Katy and his sister Xialing, Shang-Chi must stop an ancient evil from being released by his father, the leader of the Ten Rings organization. Shang-Chi’s hero uniform consists of a red and black shirt and bo staff made of dragon scales. To recreate the look of his bo, a wooden staff can be embellished with red tape at the ends to mimic the color of the dragon scales. If you’d like to imitate the appearance of Shang-Chi wielding the Ten Rings, it can be difficult to find replicas to wear. However, some generic rubber bracelets can help evoke the same feel, especially if you’re feeling crafty enough to take a little paint to them to make them look more like the weapons from the film.
Melina Vostokoff from Black Widow
Mother figure or Red Room mentor, it can be hard to tell where Melina Vostokoff’s loyalties lie until the very end. Played by the enchanting Rachel Weisz, it’s hard not to like her even when you’re not sure if she has Natasha’s best interests at heart. It all works out in the end, of course. Widows, after all, have to stick together.
For Melina’s look you want to start with a long brown wig that can be braided using tutorials from YouTube. A costume rifle also gives you her weapon of choice. If you want to go with her widow look, you’ll want a white Widow Suit. For her home look, a black canvas jacket, black cargo pants, black boots, and a dark blue long sleeve shirt are great options that can also transition into other cosplays. The pet pig is, of course, optional.
Queen Ramonda from Black Panther
When you think of a queen, you likely think of poise and grace. You probably think of beauty and wisdom, too. Queen Ramonda of Wakanda embodies all of these traits as well as the strength and foresight to lead her people after both of her children are lost in Thanos’ snap. She is a natural queen played by Angela Bassett, a queen in her own right and star of numerous hit productions.
Mimicking Queen Ramonda’s royal bearing isn’t easy, but you can start with her look. The most iconic piece of her costume is the isicholo or Zulu hat that she wears. There are many tutorials on YouTube or you can purchase one from at Etsy seller, such as the one pictured above. She wears two different versions throughout the film, one in black and one in white. With her white isicholo hat she wears flat profile earrings, thumb rings, and the kimoyo beads that all Wakandans seem to wear.
Queen Ramonda also wears a white A-Line gown and a shoulder mantle. In the movie the mantle is 3-D printed. However the file linked here is for a laser-cut version.
Finally, the Queen’s shoes are not seen. Because of this, three options have been included. One is a pair of white dress sands, the second a pair of white lace heels, and the third a pair of white flats.
Alexei from Black Widow
David Harbour may be best known as Jim Hopper but his time in the MCU may replace his Stranger Things role as his most iconic. Alexei – better known as the Red Guardian – serves as a father to Natasha and Yelena when they’re undercover in America. Once back in Russia, however, he finds himself on the wrong side of Dreykov and locked up in a super max prison where his only hope of freedom are the girls he returned to the Red Room decades ago.
The Red Guardian has gone through many iterations in the comics, but in the MCU he has only one look. A pre-made suit provides all of the straps and pouches Alexei has on his suit while a helmet, fake beard, and white suit round out the look.
Skurge from Thor: Ragnarok
Skurge is a character you both love to hate and hate to love. In Thor: Ragnarok, he quickly abandons his people to serve Hela on her return to Asgard. But in the end he throws himself to battle against her, trying to right the wrongs of his previous choices. Of course it might just be Karl Urban’s portrayal that gives Skurge the humorous charm he seems to have. But you be the judge of that!
Skurge’s costume is exclusively comprised of a complex set of armor. The one listed above is from another movie but looks very similar. If you add in a bald cap, face paint to recreate his tattoos, a fake goatee, and a sword, you’re ready to defend Asgard!
