Anne Boleyn from The Tudors
Anne Boleyn – both the character and the actual woman – was cunning and clever. She knew how life at court worked and did all she could to make the best life for herself in a world that seemed stacked against her. Natalie Dormer’s portrayal of her is a fan favorite from The Tudors and brought new attention to the tragic life lived by the mother of Queen Elizabeth the First.
Though Anne wears several gowns on the show one of her most popular is the yellow gown she wears to Catherine’s funeral. Given the intricate styles of the Tudor era it is hard to easily replicate the dress. Etsy sellers have a few listed, one of which is pictured to the left in the image above. The option to the right is from Amazon. With either option you’ll want a hoop to fill out the skirt, a brunette wig, and a Boleyn necklace. A pair of thigh high socks and white ballet slippers dyed yellow finish the look.
Magda from Penny Dreadful: City of Angels
Magda (played by Natalie Dormer of Game of Thrones fame) is a shapeshifting demon with a taste for meddling in the affairs of mortals. She has several looks throughout the show, three of which have been recreated here.
For Elsa, you will need a blonde wig and a dress in the style of the 1930s. The heels for this costume can also be worn with the costume for Alex, the next person. As Alex is older and a personal assistant her clothes are a little more formal. She wear a wool skirt and blazer along with a white button up shirt.
If you want to dress as Magda in her natural form, you’ll want a sweeping black dress, black button boots, and an auburn wig. Her makeup is more stark in this form as well while both Alex and Elsa wear more natural looks.
Margaery Tyrell
A noble daughter of House Tyrell, Margaery (Natalie Dormer) finds herself married to not one, but three men vying for the Iron Throne over the course of her life before her untimely demise in Season 6 of Game of Thrones. Beautiful, cunning, and kind, Margaery used her brains and her beauty to climb the social hierarchy and settle herself time and time again in the place to become/be the Queen of Westeros. Up until Season 6, she is most often seen wearing shades of blue decorated with rose and vine motifs.
