In King Richard, Richard Williams (Will Smith) is the father of Venus and Serena Williams, who he aspires to turn into professional tennis players from a young age. Richard doesn’t have much money, but he has a 78-page plan and a relentless drive to achieve this goal.
Natsu from Baby Steps
Natsu Takasaki is a member of the Southern Tennis Club, and wants to be a professional player in the future. She is a straightforward, but friendly girl. She goes to the same school as Eiichiro, finding his insanely detailed notes a little unusual. When she realizes Eiichiro came to the tennis club, she helps him get familiar with the team and the sport. Natsu plays tennis with all her heart in Baby Steps.
Eiichiro from Baby Steps
Eiichiro Maruo loves tennis, and wants to become a professional player. He first joins the Southern Tennis Club after his mom suggests him to check out the team. Eiichiro did not know much about tennis, but became absorbed in the sport. He is an excellent note-taker, and very diligent in his school studies. He carried this trait over to his tennis skills, and with help from friends like Natsu, he starts to improve. Eiichiro uses his observation skills and dedicated practice habits to better his chances at being a professional athlete. He is steadily growing as a tennis player in Baby Steps.
Andre Agassi
Andre Agassi has an aggressive playing style and the fashion sense to match. With everything from his dyed mullet and neon Nike apparel to his outspoken personality, he’s responsible for bringing excitement back to professional tennis in the 90’s.
Serena Williams
Serena Williams is one of the most dominant women’s tennis players of all time and self-proclaimed “hardest working woman in tennis.” Her colorful outfits have grabbed headlines both off the court and on (see: black catsuit; denim skirt and knee-high boots; trench coat; hot pink body suit).
Richie Tenenbaum
Growing up, Richie Tenenbaum was a tennis prodigy and mediocre artist. He secretly falls in love with his adopted sister Margot, leading to a meltdown during a televised tennis tournament. He abandons his career and seeks refuge aboard the ocean liner Cote d’Ivoire.
