Reginald Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy

Reginald Hargreeves is a character in the Darkhorse comic series, The Umbrella Academy. In the Netflix adaptation of the same name, he is portrayed by Colm Feore. Known as “The Monocle,” Reginald is an eccentric billionaire who adopted seven children with superhuman abilities. Dubbed the Umbrella Academy, he trained the seven to become superheroes. Due to his selfish yet mysterious motives, he was a less than stellar father figure. He can be downright abusive, such as locking Klaus in mausoleums and suppressing Vanya‘s powers. In the first episode, breaking news announces his death, and the Hargreeves siblings reunite to investigate. They meet him again in the second season when Five teleports them to the 1960s. Diego believes Reginald is involved with JFK assassination. Spoilers: Reginald is revealed as an alien (which never gets explained) and in the next timeline, starts the Sparrow Academy.

Cha Cha from The Umbrella Academy

Cha-Cha from The Umbrella Academy

Cunning and sadistic, Agent Cha-Cha (Mary J. Blige) works for The Handler as a time-traveling assassin, who does her job to prevent cataclysmic ends to the world (or allow them, if it’s for the greater good of the timeline) and likes it. Her current target is the Umbrella Academy’s Number Five. Does it concern her ever so slightly that her partner, Hazel, has gotten distracted and just a little bit softhearted over the friendly proprietor of the local doughnut shop? It is entirely possible.

The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy

I heard a rumor that you want to cosplay The Rumor from The Umbrella Academy using items from Amazon. Oh, you do? Well, you’ve come to the right place! The Rumor, real name Allison Hargreeves is one of seven super-powered siblings from the dysfunctional Umbrella Academy family. Her ability? Making anyone do anything she says, so long as she prefaces her statement with “I heard a rumor….” But can someone as narcissistic and manipulative as The Rumor handle the great power and responsibility that comes with her job?

Allison Hargreaves from Umbrella Academy

Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy

On Netflix’s adaptation of The Umbrella Academy, Emily Raver-Lampman brings The Rumor to life in the form of Allison Hargreeves, an accomplished and stunningly beautiful actress whose onscreen success totally has nothing to do with her superhuman ability to manipulate anyone with her words. “I heard a rumor [that you’re going to do something I want],” is a phrase that has earned Allison many favors in the world, but also some traumatizing drawbacks. Don’t miss Allison’s 1960s yellow dress look from season 2 as well.

The Seance from The Umbrella Academy comic

The Seance from The Umbrella Academy

Long before Netflix introduced us to the endearingly flamboyant junkie Klaus Hargreeves on The Umbrella Academy, his comic book counterpart The Seance was wearing all-black, levitating barefoot, and possessing people’s bodies with his soul. This version of The Seance opts for more comfortable, albeit still eccentric, costume and opts for no shoes to enhance his necromancer abilities.

Allison Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy Season 2

Allison Hargreeves is a character from the Darkhorse comic series, The Umbrella Academy. In the Netflix adaptation of the same name, she is portrayed by Emmy Raver-Lampman. Known as Number Three or “The Rumor,” Allison can persuade anyone to do anything simply by saying “I heard a rumor.” In the second season, she ends up in the 1960s and starts working at a hair salon. She gets married to Ray Chestnut, changing her surname from Hargreeves to Chestnut. She has to deal with the racism of the era as well as hiding her powers from her husband. When the Hargreeves siblings reunite, she’s forced to tell him the truth. Compared to Allison’s original subdued look, new sense of style fits with the decade, opting for bangs and trading black leather for vibrant colors.

ben hargreeves the umbrella academy character

Ben Hargreeves from The Umbrella Academy

Ben Hargreeves is a character from the Darkhorse comic series, The Umbrella Academy. In the Netflix adaptation of the same name, he is portrayed by Justin H. Min. Known as Number Six or “The Horror,” Ben was able to unleash monsters from other dimensions to attack his enemies. We only see Ben as a ghost through Klaus’ clairvoyance because he died prior to the events of season one. He acts as the voice of reason for Klaus, coaxing him away from drugs and alcohol. In the second season, Ben plays a much larger role. He learns how to possess others, which saves Vanya from causing another apocalypse. He has a heart to heart moment with her before going towards the light and crossing over for good. When the Hargreeves siblings jump forward in time, they end up back in the academy, and see a portrait of Ben over the mantel. The cliffhanger is Ben being alive in this timeline and not recognizing his siblings in the new Sparrow Academy.

The Handler from The Umbrella Academy

The Handler from The Umbrella Academy

In The Umbrella Academy, The Handler (Kate Walsh) is the head of the Commission and Five’s former boss, who works to assassinate anyone who might disrupt the timeline. After chasing Number Five down, she offers him a job with the Commission due to his time-traveling abilities and “stick-to-itiveness”.
