Ryder from PAW Patrol

Ryder is a smart 10-year-old boy who leads the PAW Patrol, a team of search-and-rescue dogs who go one missions to help people in Adventure Bay. He’s as loyal to the pups as they are to him. Ryder’s trademark look includes his spiky brown hair and PAW Patrol vest.

Jo from Kid Cosmic

Jo (voiced by Amanda Céline Miller) is a teenage girl who works at her mom’s diner while moonlighting as a member of the Local Heroes on the Netflix show Kid Cosmic.  When she harnesses the power of the Purple Stone, Jo becomes Portal Girl, a teleporting hero who works with the Kid.  Jo has purple hair and wears a pink and black striped shirt with black jeans and sneakers.  When working at her mom’s diner, she also wears a white visor and apron.

Tyler from Total Drama Island

Tyler from Total Drama Island

Tyler (voiced by Peter Oldring) started out a member of the killer bass. Somehow both sporty and accident-prone, he’s quick to take on the physical challenges but isn’t quite up to the games Heather has running in the background of the competition.

Cosplaying as Tyler is both easy and comfortable. You can either use your own hair or grab a brown wig to copy his look before adding a red and white sweatband over whatever you choose. After that all you need is a red tracksuit and a pair of white sneakers and you’re all set!

The Watcher

The Watcher (voiced by Jeffrey Wright) is a recurring character in the Marvel show, What If…? on Disney+. He starts each episode by explaining the many realities of the multiverse and introducing himself as the Watcher. He possesses abilities such as energy-manipulation and clairvoyance. But he never shares his origin, as he exists outside space and time, watching the events of different universes unfold. The Watcher never interferes, but when Ultron-Vision finds his observatory haven and threatens all realities, he must break this rule.

The Joker from Harley Quinn

The Joker (Alan Tudyk) is the main antagonist in DC Universe’s animated series Harley Quinn, which now streams on HBO Max. Of course he rules Gotham as the clown prince of crime and rival to none other than Batman. At the start, his girlfriend is Harley Quinn. Although Harley realizes his obsession with Batman overshadows their romantic relationship. She dumps the Joker so she can stop relying on him and prove herself as a villain. When she joins the Legion of Doom, the exes turn to rivals. The Joker becomes a major character in season two when his evil plans come to fruition.

powerline from a goofy movie

Powerline from A Goofy Movie

Powerline (voiced by Tevin Campbell) is the larger-than-life musician idolized by Max Goof in Disney’s A Goofy Movie.  In a bid to impress his crush Roxanne, Max tells his classmates that he and his father will be performing on stage with Powerline at an upcoming concert.  The ruse derails the father-son road trip Goofy actually has planned, culminating in a wild and emotional ride for them both.  Powerline’s character and performance style were influenced by some of the biggest rock stars of the age including Michael Jackson and Prince.  To recreate his look, you’ll need a yellow jumpsuit and black boots.  A fine-tipped fabric paint applicator can help you add the nuclear-looking design on the front of his uniform.  Most importantly, don’t forget to belt out I 2 I while busting a move.

Teela from Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Teela from Masters of the Universe: Revelation

Voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar, the newest version of Teela has all the strength and courage of previous versions with a modern take on what it takes to go up against Grayskull. She also has two costumes in the show – the classic and the modern – but for this cosplay write-up we’re going with the current version of her classic costume. It requires a fair bit of DIY but can be done with fabric paint and liquid stitch for those who aren’t ready to go all-in on sewing their own.

Starting with the skirt, cut the one listed above into the right shape, leaving enough room to fold the edges in for a hem, then seal them using Liquid Stitch. Next edge the skirt in gold ribbon, gluing it in place with Liquid Stitch. The best method is to fold the ribbon in half and glue one half inside the skirt so the hem is smooth ribbon. Finally, cut out the golden decoration for the front of her skirt using the satin. Use fabric paint to recreate the design, then glue it in place using Liquid Stitch.

Next take the shirt and edge the arms with ribbon the same as the skirt was edged. Using the gold paint pens, recreate the designs on her top. You can then add the designs to the corset using either the pain pens of the ribbon, whichever works best. Testing both methods on satin craps can find out which gets the look you want.

A little white faux fur trim and a pair of brown boots finishes off the main part of Teela’s. From there you’ll want to get an auburn wig and a pair of golden upper arm cuffs. Teela’s crown is hard to fine, but a blueprint is available on Etsy for those who are comfortable with EVA foam or want to give it a try. White gauntlets trimmed with gold acrylic paint mimic Teela’s gauntlets. From there all you need is a scabbard and a sword and you’re set! The sword pictured here is technically Wonder Woman’s but it’s a close fit to Teela’s style from the available options.

Catra at Princess Prom

Catra is the main antagonist in Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. Her ultimate goal is to return Adora, aka She-Ra, to the Horde and defeat the Rebellion. In the eighth episode, she attends the Princess Prom alongside Scorpia. While dancing with Adora, she explains that she captured her friend, Bow. They engage in a fierce battle, but as always, Catra manages to escape. Catra wears a suit on par with the col0r scheme of her usual outfit, including her signature headpiece.

Cody from Total Drama Island

Cody from Total Drama Island

Cody (voiced by Peter Oldring) likes to think of himself as a ladies man. The ladies on the island, however, beg to differ. Still Cody has his own kind of charm. Tech-savvy and eager to help his teammates, he is a great asset to the Screaming Gophers until he has to leave the island, not to return to the competition until Total Drama World Tour.

Cosplaying as Cody is a great opportunity to use stuff you might already have in your closet. And if you don’t have the items, you can easily transition your new purchases into other cosplays or your daily wardrobe. A short sleeve yellow polo, grey long sleeve shirt, cargo jeans, and a pair of brown sneakers make up Cody’s outfit. You can add the stripes on his shirt with fabric paint. And if you want to get his messy hairstyle, you can either opt for a wig or style your own in a similar fashion.

Tommy Pickles from Rugrats

Tommy Pickles from Rugrats

Tommy Pickles (voiced by Elizabeth Daily) was a staple in the childhood of many Millennials. He led the group of friends known as the Rugrats, usually getting them into trouble (even if some of it was just make believe). His leadership and adventurous nature drove the whole show, so it’s no wonder people might want to cosplay as Tommy!

There are two ways to go about a cosplay like this. One is to get as close as possible to the original character and the other is to put a slight spin on. To get really close to the character, go for a blue t-shirt, a costume diaper, a prop bottle, a Reptar toy, and invisible shoes like those in this YouTube tutorial. If you don’t want to go the diaper route, you can swap that piece for a pair of white pants and a pair of shoes that match your skin tone. In either case remember to use yellow fabric paint to recreate the iconic yellow tabs on Tommy’s diaper. And while you might want to ditch the bottle if you go with the jeans, keep Reptar nearby. Tommy would!
