Mrs. Hudson (BBC)
The kind elderly lady who rents the upstairs apartment to Sherlock Holmes on the BBC drama Sherlock, Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) hides a stiff upper lip behind cups of tea and an aversion to Sherlock’s ‘experiments’. Quick to point out she isn’t Sherlock’s housekeeper, she leaves well enough alone when it comes to the strange goings-on in 221B Baker Street, but is always there with a bowl of soup when they need it. She dresses in elegant, conservative clothing.
Jen Barber
After wheedling her way into an IT supervisor position with zero experience, Jen Barber (Katherine Parkinson) finds herself in charge of two antisocial, socially awkward, adorably inept geeks, Maurice Moss and Roy Trenneman, on the British sitcom The IT Crowd. Vic Moretti
New to the sheriff’s department in Wyoming’s Absaroka county, deputy Vic Moretti (Katee Sackhoff) is the right-hand woman of Sheriff Walt Longmire on the TV series Longmire. She is an enigmatic character with a rough and wild side, but comes to love the people in the sheriff’s office as her new family. The film, The Aviator, chronicles the career and demise of Howard Hughes, the aviation pioneer and film director. He briefly dates Ava Gardner (Kate Beckinsale) during this period. Caprica Six
The first model of Cylon revealed to look human in the TV series Battlestar Galactica, the Six line (Tricia Helfer) relies on seduction, manipulation and brute force to achieve its goals. The most famous model, Caprica Six, has an on-again-off-again relationship with scientist Gaius Baltar that mostly takes place inside of his mind. She dresses for the role of temptress, in a revealing red dress and tousled blonde locks.
Aeryn Sun
A Sebacean by race and Peacekeeper by profession, Officer Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black) is a dedicated, skilled, highly dangerous soldier in the TV series Farscape. When human astronaut John Crichton hurtles through a wormhole into the middle of a Peacekeeper battle, she is excommunicated from the Peacekeepers and joins up with Crichton and a colorful host of other aliens on the living spacecraft Moya. As befitting her role of soldier and warrior, she dresses in all black.
Scary Godmother
Scary Godmother is the comic book and animated character of the same name, written and illustrated by Jill Thompson. The children’s books were first published in 1997 then eventually spawned into an animated TV film in 2003.
Professor Juniper in Pokémon
Professor Juniper is the first female professor in the Pokémon series. Her specialisation is Pokémon origin and she is an old friend of Professor Oak, because who isn’t, right? Her clothes are pretty plain, especially when compared to the other Pokémon Profs.
Alessa Gillespie
Alessa Gillespie (Jodelle Ferland), although not present on screen most of the time, is the heart and soul of each Silent Hill video game and movie installment. Chosen to birth God, an evil demonic entity, Alessa’s soul splits during the ceremony into a “dark” and “light” Alessa. Dark Alessa creates the Silent Hill world, filling it with terrifying and brutal creatures born out of her pain and suffering during the ritual.
