Akira is a timeless and critically-acclaimed anime from 1988 in which a biker gang in cyberpunk Neo-Tokyo clashes with a secret government telekinesis program. One of the bikers, Tetsuo, is granted unstoppable telekinetic abilities after accidentally colliding with one of the program's ESPers. Finally powerful for the first time in his life, Tetsuo begins to lose his grip on reality as he abuses his newfound powers and they begin to grow out of his control.
