Megamind

Megamind

Megamind (voiced by Will Ferrell) is a one-of-a-kind villain. It might be that he was based on both Batman and Lex Luthor. Or maybe it’s that he isn’t actually a bad person. Either way he’s in a league of his own. And his fashion choices are no different!

Getting a look like Megamind’s takes a little bit of DIY but it’s worth it! The first DIY part of the costume is altering the cape so that it attaches to the underside of the leather shoulder guards. You can also add a silver “M” to the front if you can find one at your local craft store.

Next you will need to alter the navy body suit by painting a blue lightning bold on the chest.

The last bit of DIY should be done right before you want to debut your cosplay. You will need to enlarge your head with a prosthetic conehead. Once that is in place you will have to paint it with light blue body paint that you will have need to apply to your face and neck. Then, using black body paint, you will need to paint on his goatee and eye brows.

Voila! You’re ready to rock out to AC/DC and take over a whole city … then become its hero.

Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians

Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians

Nearly every child knows you should be afraid of the dark. Adults just forget. But in Rise of the Guardians, Pitch Black makes sure we remember. Voiced by Jude Law, DreamWorks’ Pitch Black is equal parts nightmare, bogeyman, and the shadow under your bed that keeps your feet tucked up tight under your blanket. He is every bit as terrifying as he in the original books by William Joyce. And it has made him one of DreamWorks’ most enduring villains.

There are two ways to go about a Pitch cosplay. The first is to forgo any body paint and let the clothing speak for itself. The other is to use grey body paint to mimic his otherworldly look. Either option works!

Regardless of which option you choose, there are a few things you will need. A black wig and black boots to start. If you want to go with the canon interpretation of Pitch you will also need a long black robe. If you want a more fandom-based version you’ll need black pants, a black shirt, and a long flowing black sweater.

(This costume also converts easily into a Sandman costume if you’re going to a multi-day con!)

Prince Charming is the antagonist of the second Shrek movie. Unlike the Cinderella fairytale, he has malevolent intentions. He ventures to the tower where Princess Fiona had been imprisoned, but instead he finds the Big Bad Wolf sleeping in her bed. The wolf explains Shrek rescued and married her already. Prince Charming  tricks her into thinking he’s Shrek, having been turned human from a potion, and almost gets away with it.
